Summary

Working at a dead-end retail job in the middle of nowhere can be hard. The long hours. The helpless customers. The enormous eldritch horror living deep below the building. As the only full-time employee at the 24-hour gas station at the edge of town, Jack has pretty much seen it all. But when he decides to start an online journal documenting the bizarre day-to-day occurrences, he unwittingly attracts the attention of much more than just a few conspiracy theorists.

With the body count steadily on the rise and a dark, ancient force infecting the dreams of everyone around him, Jack will do everything in his power to stay out of the way and mind his own business. After all, he’s just a gas station clerk. It’s not like he’s getting paid enough to wage battle against the nightmarish aberrations plaguing his community. Besides, he already has his hands full attempting to manage all those mysterious lawn gnomes, the mutant raccoons, and the charming phantom cowboy who lives in the bathroom.

Based on the award-winning creepypasta by GasStationJack, Tales from the Gas Station: Volume One is a love letter to the pioneers of classic horror tailored to a generation that grew up in the era of smartphones and WiFi.

This is one of my favourite stories ever and hope they release season 2 on audio book. This would make a great Netflix series too.

From Reddit To Riches

i've been following this story since i found it on Mr CreepyPasta's youtube channel a year ago. Excellent Story, Excellent Narration, i couldn't be happier it finally has an official release, i kinda miss the background music though.

If you're reading this and considering getting Tales from the Gas Station, i cant recommend it enough, listen to it here first, before it becomes the next big netflix adaptation.

Cracking stiry

Great on youtube, but even better in full, on Audible. Well read, and without the irritating music.

Youtube

If like me you first heard the story on YouTube and think it’s only a bit of extra story you are wrong, lots of questions answered and more questions to ask, there’s no finding Vanessa in this story like I thought there would be which is all the better deal, definitely pick it up even if you listened to the gas station on YouTube

The humour doesn't quite overcome the sillyness

There's a lot to like about this presentation -- it's amusing and unusual, and the characters are convincing, despite their weirdness. The narrator seems to be fully engaged in the story, telling it with enthusiasm and conviction. In the end, though, it's just a bit too farcical for my taste. Too many nonsensical things happen without explanation, and 'willing suspension of disbelief' only goes so far. Although it's funny -- very funny in places -- it isn't quite funny enough to carry what is, after all, a rather silly story.

I've just discovered there's a sequel. It might buy it, but it's not at the top of my list.

Really enjoyed

I downloaded this on a whim,so glad I did. Much more than I expected, and was disappointed when it ended. Really hope there is another book to be added soon. Very different to what I would normally listen to. The narration was a bit fast to being with, but I soon got with the tempo! Don't let that put you off, well worth the listen. Added the author to my Amazon follow listen, in hopes of more.

One of my most favorite nosleep series!

I absolutely loved the original Reddit stories and when Jack said he was putting out his book I couldn't wait. I bought the book back when it came out and didn't hesitate to buy the audible version.

Tales from the gas station is honestly a lot like an episode of The Twilight Zone (the old one not the new one, haven't watched that one yet.). The story itself is phenomenal and is 100x better when voiced By MCP. MCP bring life and style to all of the characters and breaths life into the story itself.

I absolutely love this book and I love the narrator too! I would definitely recommend to anyone that has a dark sense of humor (or a sense of humor at all) and to anyone who likes hearing strange stories.

Perfect blend of horror, humor and strangeness.

I have been a huge fan of these stories since Mr. creepy pasta had short versions on his podcast. This is the first book I've bought outright without using credits in years, and got it the day it was released. can't wait for vol. 2 thru infinity.

Excellent listen - both book and narrator

My friend suggested that I read this book even though it’s unlike anything I read in general or listen -whatever - but I decided to give it a whirl and I was not disappointed that I did. Between the narrator and the story this was a great listen and I can’t wait (hopefully there is one )but can’t wait for the next sequel .. this was an enjoyable listen and it’s like humor with a little bit of scary but not really scary- if that makes sense .. highly recommended!!!

Good listen

My only beef is with the engineering. Many long pauses which should’ve been edited better, also a few double lines as well as the narrator coughing/clearing his throat and tripping over his tongue. Sometimes the sound would get softer then quieter, even during the same sentence. That said, the errors didn’t detract from the overall listen, I’ll be buying volume II

Odd Thomas meets Monty Python

Interesting story and narration. Sometimes hard to follow, but think that this was actually intentional.

Funny, unusual, creepy, excellent narration. Loved. Reminds me of the novel "john Dies in the End."

Narration was frustrating

The narrator’s cadence was aggravating. He’d read quickly, then at a normal pace, and take long unnecessary pauses. It made it hard for me to get into the story.

The stories themselves may have been ok, but I didn’t make it through the first one before giving up due to the narration. Hence one star.
