Summary

In the jungles of Aztlan a deadly war of the shadows is being fought. And the Imperial Guard are losing. The alien t’au, though few in number, greatly outclass the soldiers of the Imperium and are taking a serious toll on their forces.

A call for aid is answered by the fearsome Mortifactors Chapter, who come to the world full of grim purpose. Adoni, an unblooded neophyte yet to earn his place, is amongst the war party. As the Mortifactors descend into the jungle vastness, they hunt for a killer, one that will not die easily but that whom Adoni must slay if he is to become part of the Chapter and a Taker of Heads.

Pleasent, if a little predictable.

Essentially the plot of Predator, but through the eys of a Mortifactor Neophyte. A nice romp through the 41st millennium however.

it's good, just wish it lasted longer.<br />interesting

I really liked this book, good way of telling a story about a chapter I'd not heard of, and an interesting perspective of how the tau can fight and win against even an Astartes, well sort of.

Enjoyable

Prefer the audio dramas from BL. The featured chapter rarely gets love despite being successors of GW's posterboys. The battle gives the Tau a horrific quality compared to the Vietcong. Does not skimp on how absolutely brutal the jungle war is.

Mortifactors vs T'au on a Jungle world. This was an awesome listen. Just like the old Imperial Guard books.

Grim.

Comparatively speaking, I've found the mature themes in this particular story to be far and above the status quo for for what is typical for the Warhammer franchise. Personally, I find it refreshing. Others with more delicate sensibilities would be well advised to avoid this title as 'Taker' has all the brutality a fan can expect from the 40k universe, and then some.

What is Melee?

Great story. Shows the tau as great guerrilla fighters with long range tactics. But of course the Imperium reigns in the end because Space Marines are awesome! It’s a good listen with some fun plot twists. It was like listen to the story of a Killteam game.

Surprisingly Boring

Great voice acting from Black Library. However, the story was remarkably boring. I wouldn't suggest listening unless you are a die hard fan of the Mortifactors.

Really awesome short story

The more I listen to these, the more I want a 40k movie. Good work! I only wish there was more and we continue with this character.
