Summary

How do you handle changes in Swift as you continue to learn how to develop IOS apps?

It is very disappointing that many new IOS developers face this issue. Apple is regularly changing rapidly.

The Swift programming language is innovative, safe, and young. So, how do you stay updated with the latest information and avoid being left behind with the most recent developments?

Starters in IOS development tend to depend on Stack Overflow to find help with programming problems. In fact, many programmers tend to check on the Swift syntax on the Stack-overflow. These developers cut-and-paste the code into Xcode.

Perhaps when Swift 3.0 was out, the code that you copied from Stack-overflow wouldn’t work, and the reason is that it was written in Swift 2.1. In other words, your Xcode required Swift 3.0, and so, you got struck rewriting parts of the code to the newer version. And this sucks.

To help you stay updated with the latest changes in Swift programming, this audiobook will guide you through some of the recent updates released in Swift. Whether you are a starter to IOS development, or you want to stay updated with the current changes in Swift programming language, this book will help you learn important concepts that you need to stay familiar with.

When you learn a new concept, you must have a “hook” to link new information onto. This is the way our brains work. When you don’t have this hook, you are less likely to understand anything that you try to learn.

Compact, Concise, and Compelling

As a non native english person who does not have a degree in Computer Science field, I had a hard time looking for the right guideline for me. But when I came across his lectures on audible, I was sure that I would stick with MG’s courses to improve my skills in iOS field. I have taken other audiobooks from big named companies and online lectures, but there are several things that separate MG’s lectures from others. First of all, he approaches the concept not as an instructor. In other words, he focuses on the “Why” part of the material, then “How to” part. This helped me a lot because before, I was learning stuffs because the instructors taught us how to use them. But now, I know why certain things are important and why things work in certain ways. Secondly, Length of this audiobook is 1 hr and 41 mins which are short, and this not only allowed me to listen to the lectures without getting distracted, but also gave me curiosity to go find more information about the topics that he teach. Sometimes, it gives me a clearer idea of the topics that he instructed. Third, he has a big heart for his listeners. He likes being close to his listeners. I can sum up MG’s lectures in three words: compact, concise, and compelling. His lectures are not too long subject wise and essential, and he also gives extra references to study. So if you are looking for these qualities, MG Martin is the person to go with !

Learn Swift with MG Martin.

I have completed the course and I can say that's exactly what happens here. You really learn Swift with MG. The concepts that are carried out in this book can become quite dense, complex, maybe boring. But the way it’s been taught by MG removes all this and makes you keep going. He explains you everything that happens while is coding, including what happens in the background. As a teacher, he is very motivating. It makes summaries at the end of each lesson as well each part and is always encouraging you to keep going. Very comfortable. One of the things that differentiates this course with any other that I made and, definitely, what I like most, is the narrationtion of Bahl with the content og MG. Incredibly useful to follow the guideline. Even if you do not know anything about Swift I recommend starting here. MG will provide you with the resources that you need to begin. I am waiting for her next course. Will be worth.

Kept me up to date

This has been a great audiobook, I've been programming in Swift for 2 years now for my full-time job yet almost every line of this course I've learnt something new. MG is very good at nailing the fundamentals and explaining why things work the way they do. I really couldn't list all the useful things I've learnt as there's simply too many but the very thorough explanation of value types vs reference types and he doesn't just skip over a complex subject just to show us how something works but goes right through to how something happens. Closures is another case where he explained the full structure of a closure and how these functions work. I'd recommend anyone who takes this course to listen the lecture note after or before part by part and play around with the code yourself in a playground. Not so much to memorise but to enhance your understanding. Packed full of useful information and sometimes went on a bit too long for a smaller amount of content but really squeezed the most out of every minute of the audio. Excellent course, I'll be keeping my eye out for the next one.

Regular updates!

This audiobook is essential to reach a professional level in iOS development. There are many courses that promise audible take you from beginner to professional, but the fact is that only touch the basics of iOS development. In this audiobook you will find the next level to become a professional. The book includes very advanced concepts, the narration are very easy to understand and the explanations of the tutor are very good. Of course, it is not a course for beginners as well as for the advance peoples. Thanks to this audiobook I am discovering things I was doing wrong. The book is very well structured and very well developed. I will need many hours to assimilate all the concepts included. For the price it is an absolute opportunity to move from a novice to a professional programmer.

Advanced iOS guidebooks

This is the best audiobook for any level of programming. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner or an intermediate swift programmer, MG has covered each and every topic in a very effective manner. The examples are very simple and yet effective. I have seen many other tutorials where they complicate things by giving a lot of inputs in one shot but MG delivers the content in a simple and effective manner ! I recommend this course to each and every swift programmer. Looking forward for many new courses from you bob :)

Good book worth listening for ios developer

I know Bahl from the so many narration and he always choose the best ones and that is why I am looking what I expecting and got the narration of Bahl and saw he narrated the things which I was looked for and I was so happy to found the book of MG Martin. And his content always was useful and exciting. I have been learning iOS development from a lot resources such as "Let's Build That App", "iOS from Beginner to Paid Professional" etc., but none of them wasn't solid for me as the MG's course. At this course you will understand the fundamentals of the Swift programming language. Enjoy!

Great book for learning iOS programming

The teacher is a ninja master Swift. But the best of alll is how much enthusiasm he spread by all their pores. But there not just the thing, the more complicated concepts all off crush them and explains them as if they were something very simple. This course has all the needed recourses and MG provides those with bang. A whole comprehensive course, dynamic, funny, fast, easy to follow that infect yourself with the passion of MG The Developer about Swift programming language. Highly advisable !!! A clearly FIVE STARS course !!!

Great book, but requires time and dedication.

Great course!!! Listen the half of this audio, and I'm pleased with the amount of information in them. I know I'll learn a ton of Swift for a fact by the end of this book.

Learn Swift

MG is thoughtful on describing advanced topics very well. He applies it to real life situations which makes it easier to understand. The course is structured in a way that makes you want to revisit it anytime you need clarification on topic. A very good teacher! Thanks, MG!

Great foundation for learning Swift

This audiobook is a great foundation for learning Swift. The materials and examples will be valuable resources to listen back to when I'm doing actual development. The more advanced topics were a little harder to follow and could use more refined real-world examples - but it is complex subject matter and less likely to be used all that often. I recommend taking this course to invest in a solid foundation of understanding Swift. It's a complex language with a lot of features - taking the time to go through the lessons will accelerate all other aspects of future iOS/Watch/Mac development.

Definitely worth trying

It may seem at first that MG's thoughts are scattered and somewhat random, but his style is actually a 'stream of consciousness' sort of flow. He is pushing an idea from this side, then that side, to gently direct us toward complete understand of sometimes difficult concepts. I really enjoy this style, it allows a much more complete absorption of the material. It feels as though I'm sitting there with him having a conversation about the topic.

Great nuggets of information.

Most people trying to learn iOS won't see the value behind learning Swift first because they just want to push out cool looking apps as fast as possible. In this course MG goes in-depth with the Swift language by using practical examples. I can truly say after going through most of the course I have never enrolled in such a detailed Swift course. This audiobook has definitely increased my skills as an iOS developer.

Interesting and engaging

I like the topics covered and how much MG knows about them. However, I think that MG would benefit from learning about the art of teaching itself. He does make the material relatable, but he isn't the best teacher in the world. I know that's pretty vague, so I guess my advice would be to just listen a audiobook about how to teach. That would take this course from being really solid to incredible.

This course is what I need.

After finishing some other course for beginners, I still know a little about the Swift syntax, even I can build some apps. But I have no idea how to write code more elegant and efficient. And this is what the course can bring you, MG is also a teacher with motivational. Really enjoy it.

My app business bible

This audiobook was great! There is no other course out there like it and I definitely recommend it! BUT make sure you spend at least a few months with the basics like MG recommends if not you will not get through this course efficiently. Other than that this course is a must. Good job MG!

Worth it's weight in gold

After listening the Swift latest updates I had to edit my rating from 4 to 5 stars, because of overall improvement and professionality. just like the teacher said, you'll really never code the same way as before. One of the better courses out there, so its definitely worth it.

To anyone who wants to make it.

Definitely one of the better courses out there devoted entirely to intermediate and advanced Swift. Came back to this course after one year to finish and use as reference. Still relevant! MG the developer is a professional instructor. This will help me change my coding behavior into something more organized. Keep up the good work.
