Summary

Linnie Wayfair knows just how many people are counting on her. But knowing doesn't make doing any easier.

Everyone in Sweet Lake, Ohio, wants her to muster all her business sense and return the Wayfair Inn to its former glory. Her parents hope she'll forgive her scoundrel of a brother and reconcile the family. The eccentric Sweet Lake Sirens want her to open the inn - and her heart - to new possibilities. And her hilarious lifelong friends Jada and Cat are dropping none-too-subtle hints for her to ignite a romance with Daniel Kettering, the sexy attorney who's been pining for her for years...

Now a shocking turn of events will open old wounds and upend the world Linnie has carefully built. She has to make changes quickly - and the results, though not entirely what she expected, might be what she's been yearning for all along.

Just okay

The story was actually not that bad. It had sine pretty funny characters in it, although the main character drove me nuts. No spunk, no stand up for yourself. But the narration just killed this book for me. Her voices drove me up the wall. So I kept changing what she said into something better in my head. I think I will stay away from books with her as a narrator

I have got to start making better choices!!

Not a series I will be revisiting. These are some whacked out mean awful people. Oh, and the worst parents I've read in fiction in a while. The characters are overwhelmingly terrible people. I gave up about 2/3 through. It was that or throw iPod on the floor and smash it.

No storyline

I kept listening hoping they’d get to a story plot but it just kept talking about an old Inn and a letter. For 4 chapters. No romance no mystery. Extremely boring.

Typical romance novel

It was okay. I really liked the Sirens. I just couldn't get into the story. I liked Linnie, but didn't really connect with her. I might give another book in the series a try, but at the moment it isn't a must read for me.

Never hooked me in.

None if the characters drew me in. Hard to follow who was talking in the audio. Didn't care for the voice portrayal of the characters especially brother Freddy. I never got interested let alone invested in the outcome. Ho Hum.

A Good Story

Good story about love, anger, forgiveness and family. Story flowed well, easy to listen. Narrator painted a good picture and performed most of the characters well, with the exception of Freddy and Daniel.

Not Bad

The heroine was a b*tch. She wasn't very likeable. It made it hard to care about her problems. The narrator sometimes gets her male and female voices mixed up. On the whole it wasn't bad. 3 stars despite the deficiencies.

Wonderful Tale of Love, Forgiveness and Family

This story is wonderful. You'll experience a roller coaster of emotions: from sorrow to joy, crying and laughing, rooting for Daniel and Linni, hooting with laughter at the sirens, and everything in-between.

My frustration was with the narrator. The wasn't much difference in the voices of Linni and Jayden in particular. So when they're having a conversation, it's very difficult to figure out who's speaking. This is particularly true in the beginning as you are learning each character. Once you get a good feel for the characters, you can figure out who's talking. Personally, I found Freddie's voice quite annoying.

Another problem I struggled with was differentiating when a character was speaking internally or to another character. Most readers will either speak softer or have a slight difference to clue the listener to an internal vs. external dialog. Not really in this story.

For these reasons, I wish I had this book also in e-print so I could have followed along better...or at least re-read some parts so I had a better understanding of the storyline at the beginning.

Disappointing

I love listening to sweet little romances but this one was painful: Cartoonish characters acting irrationally. Shallow narration. Just plain painful.
