While his position as Shadowvale’s peacekeeper lets him use that curse for good, he’d rather live anywhere else. He stays for his family but doubts he can last much longer.

Summary
From New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Jana DeLeon, the third book in the Miss Fortune Mystery series.
When only a crack shot will do....
In the two weeks CIA assassin Fortune Redding has been hiding in Sinful, Louisiana, she's been harassed, poisoned, and shot at...and that was the easy part. But now she's about to face her biggest challenge since setting foot in the tiny bayou town.
When mayoral candidate Ted Williams is murdered, everyone is surprised. Ted was a blowhole and a Yankee, but those usually weren't good reasons to kill someone. When Sinful Ladies Society leader Ida Belle becomes the lead suspect in the crime, Fortune knows she's got to solve a murder and save one of the only friends she's ever had. But as the investigation begins, more and more secrets surface, and Fortune realizes that sometimes nothing is as it seems.

Great fun!!
Loving the Miss Fortune books... this is my 3rd in the last week... I can't stop listening! Lighthearted mysteries, humorous characters and a fabulously "Sinister" setting! Probably what would be traditionally described as a perfect beach holiday book. Great performance by Campbell, she definitely enhances the story! Now, I'm off to listen to book 4! 😉

Fantastic Funny Cozy Mytery
This is the first book I’ve listened to by Jana Deleon and I loved it! It hooked me from the start, the characters are well developed and fun - Gertie cracks me up! There are some hilarious laugh out loud moments.
The narrator fits my image of Fortune perfectly and I love the Southern charm.
I am now going to go back and start at the beginning and listen to them all!
Highly recommend this audiobook series.

Try to keep awake
Is there anything you would change about this book?
A rather pedestrian, sometimes boring, not very engaging - takes some time to get into, by which time you realise that it is never going to excite or enthral you. I think this book is written for little old ladies who don't mind plodding along.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
neither, just rather medioca
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
She was OK, probably suited a low-key production
Did Swamp Sniper inspire you to do anything?
Well, the title did - but it gives you the wrong impression of what to expect!

A fun book to listen to.
Jana DeLeon is a new author for me and for that matter so is the narrator Cassandra Campbell. I seemed to have dove into this series in book three. The protagonist, Fortune Redding, is a CIA assassin with a price on her head. The agency has her stashed in Sinful, Louisiana as a vacationing librarian from New England. Fortune becomes friends with two elderly ladies, Ida Bell and Gertie, who are military veterans and former CIA operatives in Viet Nam. Ida Bell is running for Mayor. Her opponent Ted Williams is murdered and Ida Bell is a suspect. Fortune and the Sinful ladies are out to solve the crime. As the investigation begins they discover that nothing is as it seems.
DeLeon is a good story teller and does an excellent job weaving humor around the suspense. I believe the story is more a comedy than a serious action suspense novel. For being a highly trained assassin, Fortune gets into more funny and stupid situations. DeLeon provides some good descriptions of the Bayous. I read that DeLeon grew up in the Bayous in Carlyss, Louisiana. Cassandra Campbell does a good job narrating the story.

Another fun book although...
What did you like best about Swamp Sniper? What did you like least?
Gertie and Ida Belle continue to delight. I'm beginning to wonder about Fortune though.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Fortune, as she's settling into the town, seems to be losing her edge (and it's only been a few days!), which takes away from the 'fish out of water' aspect of the story. Don't get me wrong, she's still great but I at parts of the book, I was wondering how she's managed to survive so long as an assassin.
What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?
Same great performance as in the previous books.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
It would depend on who they cast as Ida Belle and Gertie.

I can't get enough
Swamp Sniper is book 3 in the Miss Fortune Mystery series. I cannot get enough of these books. They are so funny. I started to binge listen to this series a few days ago and I find that I don't want to turn them off so I am blowing through them really quickly. I really like the characters and the whole who-dun-it aspect of the story. I don't have a lot of experience with Cozy Mysteries yet but from what I have read so far, I think this is a genre that I will really enjoy for years to come. I typically like a good dose of romance in my books so this is really different for me. I am happy to say that there is a bit of a budding romance between the main character, Fortune, and the town deputy, Carter. It is just a few bread crumbs that they are tossing me here and there but I'll take it. I am super excited to continue this series and see what the ladies of Sinful, Louisiana get up to next.
The narration is perfect for the book. I think the narrator does a good job with voices and pacing. I recommend this as an audiobook.

Really fantastic book and narration!
If you could sum up Swamp Sniper in three words, what would they be?
Suspense. Fun. Laughs.
What did you like best about this story?
Everything. It's part of a great series.
Which scene was your favorite?
I can never pick just one. The whole book was very well written and most enjoyable.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Great book - even better movie!
Any additional comments?
This is part of an extremely well written series. Fortune and her cohorts are a hoot! It's a cozy book people! Fortune is allowed to be both a CIA assassin AND a bit of a ditz. That combination makes for enjoyable reading.

More Fun in the Swamp
Amateur detective Fortune and her senior citizen sidekicks Ida Belle and Gertie help solve another mystery in the swamp. Lots of humor and eccentric characters, never a dull moment in Sinful Louisiana. Imagine Golden Girls meets Mission Impossible, with a touch of I Love Lucy slapstick comedy.
