Summary

A sweeping story set against the lush riverside of the Norfolk Broads about a group of longtime friends learning how to live life to its fullest during one dramatic summer.

Linston End on the Norfolk Broads has been the holiday home to three families for many years. The memories of their time there are ingrained in their hearts: picnics on the river, gin and tonics in the pavilion at dusk, hours spent seeking out the local swallowtail butterflies. Everyone together. But widower Alastair has been faced with a few of life's surprises recently. Now, he is about to shock his circle of friends with the decisions he has made - and the changes it will mean for them all. For some, it feels like the end. For others, it might just be the beginning....

A story about friendship, making changes and learning to live life to the fullest from best seller Erica James.

A heart moving story

Beautifully narrated! Had me in tears in the supermarket 🙈. Not the ending I was expecting at all.

Very different story to what Erica James normally writes with sad ending.

Good story

Good story but annoying narrator.
I know he had a lot of voices to do but they were a bit inconsistent.

A great summer read

Great plot revolved around a drowning woman in a river and a circle of close friends from the past - set in the Norfolk Broads.

least favourite Erica James book

Not her best at all and not helped by the narrator who seemed to make each character sound either pompous, arrogant or timid. I struggled to like any of the characters and felt the storyline was weak. I did finish it though and it did all come together at the end.

She’s done it again!

This is a fantastic book. This is not like “The Holiday” ie it’s a tad heavier. I was a bit surprised by that. However, the plot twists were right. Also I most commend the narrator. I very rarely listen to books narrated by men (Stephen Fry doing Harry Potter being the exception) but dude really did well! I enjoyed it immensely. Thank you.

Disappointing book 😟

I was so looking forward to this book but what a shame. It’s slow and the narrator just didn’t fit the book.
