Insightful

There is so much to take in but as Mark DeVries points out, in order to develop a sustainable Youth Ministry we have to get involved in the details! I am immensely grateful for the nuggets contained in this book and pray that we not only hear the advice with great enthusiasm but that we work the process and put into action the systems necessary to develop a sustainable, thriving Youth Ministry in our churches too.

Great book, Very Poor Audio Quality

Where does Sustainable Youth Ministry rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very good! It called out patterns I have seen for years but couldn't put a finger on. A must read for senior pastors (and certainly for search committees and elders/board leaders).

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The audio quality was so poor. It sounds more like a podcast. There are times when the reader pulls away from the mic and you can almost hear that he is in a big empty room with just him and a microphone. The book is truly incredible; I was sad to see that the audio resources were so under funded.

This is for CHURCH ministry, not just youth

I cannot believe how practical and helpful this book really is. I was weary at first , seeing this is 2019, and the book is now six years old, but the practical insights this book gives are truly timeless. even more than the timelessness of its content , this book is a roadmap for all church ministry, not just youth

Foundational ministry building tool.

It is a great practical guide on how to build a solid ministry. If you can ignore the fact that book was recorded using a the world's cheapest microphone and that the author runs out of breath in weird places, this book will give you great practical steps to building a more fluid ministry.

I now feel equipped to begin

I loved listening to this audio book because of the deep, hard-earned wisdom it contained. I loved the building metaphor with its focus on foundations, tasks, processes and long-term visioning. Halfway through listening, I bought a softcover version of the book so I can review its many helpful bullet points and lists. As I begin a new phase of youth ministry I will be referring to this text as a resource for many years to come.
