About this listen

Sunny is a refreshingly honest, hilarious and biting novel about love, family and mental health from actor, comedian and writer Sukh Ojla.

This actually is a love story, just not the one Sunny was looking for....

Sunny is the queen of living a double life. On the one hand, she's 30, flirty and thriving. But on the other, she's just moved back in with her parents while all her friends are getting married, buying houses and having babies. To complicate matters further, she's a secret serial dater, sneaking out of the house every night, leaving her parents with a trail of little white lies.

But one day, her two lives collide in her parents' hallway as she's trying to slip out the front door under the cover of darkness.

Only the truth will get her out of this one. But to Sunny's horror, her mum isn't as appalled as expected, and instead offers a strange deal. Sunny can keep going on dates, as long as Sunny's mum gets to choose who she dates. What could be worse?!

After numerous cringeworthy, awkward and sometimes soul-destroying dates, Sunny has the chance to stop lying to her mum and start being honest...about everything.

Sunny by Sukh Ojla is a relatable, hilarious and life-affirming novel. It is biting and disarmingly honest, exploring family, love and mental health. Perfect for fans of Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams, Grown Ups by Marian Keyes and Olive by Emma Gannon.

First book I've really enjoyed in a long time!

This book is soooo funny, love Sunnys sarcasm in it and how she captures every familiar moment and feeling that most British asian girls go through when growing up.

Well done Sunny, this book literally saved me from boredom and I couldn’t wait to listen to the next part every day! Please do Sunny part 2, I need to know what happens next! :)

Amazing book - couldn’t stop laughing or relating!

This is a MUST to read… open and honest the author has shared the ups and downs of her life story. I am a fan! After seeing her comedy show I
was excited when I found out she has written a book. I listened to this book on my holiday in Rhodes and it kept me entertained. She is a brilliant comedian & now author. Well Done Sukh! Looking forwards to see what else you will be doing next.

Absolutely fantastic

Such an amazing story, so relatable. The woman narrating really portrayed accents well. It was like I could really see the characters in front of me when she spoke their words. I really felt the feud between friends and it's very common amongst Asian girls. It takes me back to my own issues I've had in the community.

Great Narration

Not My normal book read, but glad I took the plunge.
Sunny is very clever in its story building and character arcs for friends and family.

And the internal talk is refreshingly similar to my own so its really nice to relate.

It was also insightful to get a glimpse into some facets of Indian culture and life you wouldn't normally see or even understand as a Góra.

The voice over is probably one of the best on audioble with the character voices all being unique and well done. Having listened to quite a few audio books, it was nice that the different voices were interesting, recognisable and most importantly, not unnatural. Great work here.

Looking forward to the next book.

Took a chance, not dissapointed.
