Summary
Demi doesn't expect her summer in Cornwall to hold anything out of the ordinary. As a waitress, working all hours to make ends meet, washing dishes and serving ice creams seems to be as exciting as the holiday season is about to get.
That's until she meets Cal Penwith. An outsider like herself, Cal is persuaded to let Demi help him renovate his holiday resort, Kilhallon Park. Set above an idyllic Cornish cove, the once popular destination for tourists has now gone to rack and ruin. During the course of the Cornish summer, Demi makes new friends - and foes - as she helps the dashing and often infuriating Cal in his quest. Working side by side, the pair grow close, but Cal has complications in his past which make Demi wonder if he could ever truly be interested in her.
Demi realises that she has finally found a place she can call home. But as the summer draws to a close, and Demi's own reputation as an up and coming café owner starts to spread, she is faced with a tough decision....
A gorgeous story exploring new beginnings, new love and new opportunities, set against the stunning background of the Cornish coast.
Recommended for those who loved Summer at Shell Cottage, The Cornish House, Tremarnock and Poldark.

Weak story
Very slow and weak story and also felt that two narrators would has been better. Found it confusing switching one character to another with same narrator.

Strange in and out of an accent was distracting.
New to audio books but I was distracted and accent was a bit cringeworthy. I think it will be the narrator that decides my next book

Thinly disguised copy of Poldark
How she is able to publish this book I have no idea
It is ripped off Poldark so closely she barely changed the setting
Also rather boring
As for the narrator, I’m torn between thinking she ruins it or improves it by making you laugh at the stupidity of the plot
One to avoid

Title is somewhat misleading
The books story does not mainly plan at a Cornish Cafe, which I found a bit irritating.
Overall it was an easy listen and truly not too much happened. It was not dreadful but not great either.
And there are a great many open ends which would be ok, if the story would be crowded with action, which it was not.

Poldark
I hadn't realised this was a modern "twist" on the Poldark book. I liked the story, it was easy but it did just feel like a copy of someone else's writing

A lovely.....
heart-warming and funny storyline from start to finish. The narrator was very good at using different voices for the characters.

liked the story but...
the narration was so boring! it was difficult telling one character from another a lot of the time. I stuck with it because I enjoyed the story but I won't listen to another story she narrates! Sorry, but that's just my opinion...

Easy summer listen
Nice summer story.
Not particularly deep or eventful but an easy listen that helped me get to sleep. Nice characters, nice setting in Cornwall with interesting scenario. I love the authors descriptions particularly of the setting.
The title is inaccurate - the first couple of chapters are set at a cafe and that’s it. This is annoying and unnecessary - I’m guessing the publisher thought that title was more commercial but they should have picked something else.
I wasn’t convinced that all the crumbs dropped were tied up by the end (eg there is lots of mention that ‘something happened to Cal’ when he was working away which we never find out) but still enjoyable anyhow, I’ll definitely listen to more of the same author.
