Summary

When it comes to marriage, there are lots of different schools of thought. However, there’s one thing we can all agree on: Marriage is hard work.

In The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work, the author explains that in his years of researching marriage, he discovered that happy couples shared some things in common that unhappy couples seemed to be lacking. He explains how he can watch a couple for just a few minutes and predict with almost perfect accuracy whether or not they will divorce.

In this guide, you will get a sneak peek at the seven principles:

  • Enhance your love maps
  • Turn toward each other instead of away
  • Let your partner influence you
  • Overcome gridlock
  • Solve your solvable problem
  • And so much more

After listening to this summary, you will find that you relate much better with your spouse. You’ll be able to come together on things you’ve struggled with in the past. Or if you can’t work them out, you can at least learn to live with each other.

Great Listen.

One of the most practical and helpful marriage books on the market. I've given it as a wedding gift more than once. It's a "Yes, but how" book that is sorely needed in every home.

Most definitely changed my life!

I was sceptical about a self help book to begin with but this is amazing. Very easy read! And makes you think about life and marriage. I would recommend it to anyone even if you have the "perfect marraige"

Helpful discussion.

This book is excellent for couples of faith or secular couples alike. It would be of value to those who plan to be in relationships as well. The author gives practical information and exercises to participate in that are helpful discussion pieces.

A great book.

Excellent exploration of Behavioral things you should and shouldn't do to and in your marriage, but also great explanation of why certain patterns are beneficial or detrimental. It offers concrete examples as well as provoking thought to develop your own examples on specific things to do to improve your marriage right away.

There are so many scenarios.

There are so many scenarios that perfectly reflect how our relationship evolved into a toxic relationship. It was a wake up call to me to find that it was mostly my fault that the marriage was in bad shape. Lots time spent on self reflection later, our marriage is in the best place it's been in year. Every married couple should listen this book.

I really like this book.

I have only listen portion so far, but it seems very good and informative. By working together as a married couple, with or without a therapist, applying these principles in the book will surely help any marriage or relationship. I have listen quite a few marriage self-help books at the recommendations of different therapists, and this one seems to be the best one so far.

very Useful.

This information really spans how we need to communicate with people in general, not just our spouse! Important information for everyone...including teens who do not know how to be good partners to the people they care about! Would STOP girls being nasty to each other. As you can tell, I find this book and the principals it espouses very useful.

Helpful for couples.

Helpful for couples who want to work on their marriage. He is not the typical self-help author as he has conducted research himself to provide validity to his approach.

Most practical and useful advice.

The principles and practices outlined in this book are crucial to the health and satisfaction of all our relationship - none of which are more central than the one with our spouse. I highly recommend this excellent work. It includes many self-assessments along the way that couple can use to identify problem areas and make the necessary changes necessary for healthy and lasting relationship and marriages.
