  • Summary

  • Following on from her examination of the weird and wonderful animal kingdom, this second season of Earpedia sees comedian Sue Perkins presenting a series of audio guides to the planet's most useful, bizarre and interesting plants.

Join Sue as she explores the truly horrible welwitschia mirabilis, which looks like a gateway into the pit of hell, the stony lithops plant, which resembles a dog's testicles, the technically poisonous cocoa plant, the caveman's discovery of rubber, and how much of the Venus flytrap's diet is actually flies.

    May 8 2018
Sue Perkins presents an audio guide to one of the world's ugliest plants, which resembles a huge jumble of fraying, dying leaves that have been carelessly dumped out of the back of a van onto the dusty, desert ground.

Very informative

I found this a highly informative series with a healthy dose of humor, allowing the information to never become stale. Without Sue Perkins this series would not work as well. I learnt a lot, they were easy bites of information that allowed for listening on short journeys and whilst having some down time. The chocolate one was particularly well done with many a hint at dark humor. A very worthwhile listen especially as it free on audible currently.

Avoid...irritating.

I've not heard anything as naff as this since 1980s kids tv. Facts punctuated by 'hillarious' skits which just grate.

Aaargghhh

Information is limited by the failed attempts of funny jokes that interrupt the narrative. Not funny, not great, would not recommend.

Brilliant botany...

A charming series, and like the Animals version, I wished the episodes were longer and contained more information, as the tid bits about each plant were fascinating. Sue Perkins is the perfect narrator to maintain an upbeat, engaging, listen.

Worst garbage my ears have listened to.

Feel like I've clicked a horrendous clickbait internet article. Honestly offended this is even available for free.

would be five stars, if not for the constant cuts

this entire podcast is absolutely ruined by the constant cutaways. it becomes tacky after the first episode. Sue Perkins does a great job, but unfortunately the production team ruin it. Definitely not a good evening podcast, as the silly cutaways change the calm vibes very abruptly around once a minute.

entertaining

Similar to the animal series this is very entertaining and amusing. I really enjoyed it whilst learning about plants is a tongue-in-cheek way.

Very good for putting me to sleep.

I don't know what it is about this book, but I never hear a chapter to the end. What I hear is very interesting and seems witty. But I always fall asleep, so as someone who struggled to sleep, thank you
