The sentence is the common ground where every writer walks. A poet writes in sentences, but so does the unsung author who came up with Items trapped in doors cause delays. A good sentence can be written (and read) by anyone if we simply give it the gift of our time, and it is as close as most of us will get to making something truly beautiful. Enter acclaimed author Professor Joe Moran. Using minimal technical terms, First You Write a Sentence is his unpedantic but authoritative explanation of how the most ordinary words can be turned into verbal constellations of extraordinary grace.

Sell books the smart way. Five years ago releasing a book as an indie author meant uploading it, then begging everyone you knew to buy it. That method simply doesn't work anymore. Fortunately, there's a better way. Amazon has spent billions of dollars over the last decade building the world's best sales engine. They use machine learning to sell massive piles of books, and that engine is just waiting for you to tap into it. This is the book that will teach you how.

There are only, in my humble opinion, two kinds of readers: readers who love your books and readers who don’t know they love your books yet. But how do you reach those readers in the second category, no matter what kind of writer you are? The answer to that question is...universal fantasy. Universal fantasy is why my sales tripled when I “accidentally” wrote three books that landed in the Amazon Top 100. Universal fantasy is why some authors get gobs of gushing reviews and some authors who write “way better” get crickets.

Summary
Do you want to successfully self-publish in eBook, print, or audiobook formats?
There are thousands of new books being published every day, but many self-published books quickly sink to the bottom of the pile.
Many authors are frustrated because there are so many options for self-publishing, and they don't know which one to choose or what will be best for their book.
Others spend thousands of dollars to publish and end up brokenhearted with the result.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
I've spent the last seven years self-publishing best-selling fiction and nonfiction books and in 2011, I left my day job to become a full-time author entrepreneur. I've made lots of mistakes along the way, but through the process of self-publishing 17 books, I've learned the most effective way to publish and market your books. In this book, I'll share everything with you.
The book includes:
- What you need to know before you self-publish
- Why self-publishing an eBook is a good idea
- How to format an eBook
- Exclusivity and going direct
- How to self-publish an eBook
- Why self-publish a print book
- Print-on-demand will change your life
- What you need to know before you print
- How to self-publish a print book
- What to do if you want help with the publishing process
- How to self-publish an audiobook
- After self-publishing
- How much does it cost to self-publish?
- How do you get paid when you self-publish?
- Book marketing principles
- How to market fiction
- How to market nonfiction
Plus, links to more useful resources.
If you're ready to successfully self-publish, then buy this book now.

Relevant help for authors
It doesn’t matter whether you’ve written one, two or even three books, help is always appreciated in my experience. I have published one non fiction book, and didn’t have the know how to boost sales. Also, the subject was traumatic, so I couldn’t say “I hope you enjoy my book”. Now I’m about to publish my first historical fiction book (8 years after first book), and Joanna Penn has saved the day for me with this book. It cements into your mind everything that needs doing right up to and after publication day. A book to keep close at hand!

Some Useful Info
I am nit a novice but thought I might gain some new insight from this book. It was good to refocus on a bit of the marketing strategies. But I had to wade through quit a bit of sales updates about her other offers. Maybe that is part of her lesson, sell, sell, sell...but an ad for your other products is not the content I meant to be paying for. I expect cross reference sales promotion but this was a little 'over sold'.

Not much to offer
This is more of a very generalized summary of one way to self that centers mostly around amazon and setting the price of your book to free.
The narration was okay, but the pauses between every sentence were unnaturally long. I speed it up as fast as I could to still understand her, though the pauses were still grating.

She delivered!
Joanna offers great, honest advice on self-publishing, from a successful author’s perspective.
As I begging my journey of publishing my first book, this book has been one of the most helpful tools I’ve used. This is because she not only shares valuable resources with the reader, but she offers advice that is delivered in a way that sounds like it’s coming from a friend.
I have been obsessing a bit over the publishing of my first book, which is the reason that I still haven’t published it. But after reading this I feel confident that my first book is truly only the beginning and that I have the ability to publish many more after that first one.
Definitely worth it to listen to this book whether you’re already a published author, or you’re just exploring!
