Summary

Sydney finds more than she bargained for when she gets lost on her way to report for a new job and finds herself at a lifestyle club. Peering in through the window, her attention - and libido - are both snagged by a man delivering some old-fashioned discipline to a young blonde. After he runs Sydney off, both are surprised to discover she is the new chef he’s hired for his ranch.

Caden wanted to turn away the cheeky woman he’d caught spying on his club without remorse, but desperation for a chef forced his hand. Sydney proves to be a definite asset to his employees and a royal pain in his butt. Somehow, her penchant for getting lost and landing in trouble, along with her determination to return to the club as a guest, soon slide past his resistance.

It takes a threat to Sydney and unearthing the truth about what made her flee her home in Missouri to force them both to admit their feelings and get her to stay as more than his chef.

This contemporary Western romance contains themes of mystery, suspense, power exchange, and ménage elements and is intended for mature audiences.

Choose something else.

I struggled to finish this SHORT story ! The story was unbelievable and the characters very stereotypical. The narraction was very stilted. I will give the author and narrator another chance before i put them on my blacklist.

BDSM Blah

The book was free as part of Audible Plus so I decided to give it a try since it was the start to a series. It honestly isn't worth it. None of the cookie cutter male doms were memorable, all of them had similar hipster names to the point of confusion, and they were all part of the same club so you can get a real good idea of the stories of the next books. It just wasn't compelling for me. Seriously, does ever BDSM story have to include a club? Like why is that necessary every time?

Not every woman needs a pathetic back story in order to be into BDSM or want to be a submissive which this series (this book for sure) has in spades. It just seems so silly that women have to be on the run or in danger in order to find the Dom to "save" them. Like no, sometimes women just was to stop having to make the decisions or stroke egos and just be told to enjoy the ride ffs

Anyway, the narration wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. I can see why it really put some people off, but it didn't bother me. In general, I thought the narration was the best part of a very weak short story.

Yeah NO

I’m sorry but this was just a big no for me. The narrator did a horrible male voice. I realize this is a short book but i expected something different.

Good short story

I enjoyed the the story and the narration was good. I don’t like the portrayal of Caden because the voice made him sound more like an old man not one who was 39 and definitely not a like a dom.

As fun as the ebook

I’ve read the story and liked it and was curious about the audiobook. Since it was included in the Audible Plus Catalogue I couldn’t resist.
The story still is fun, even a second time, although it lacks depth in my opinion.
Nathalie Bradshaw is a very professional narrator, although she couldn’t infuse more texture to the story either.

Maggie P.

Wonderful book!! I enjoyed it thoroughly. It was funny, suspenseful and thrilling all at the same time. I found myself laughing out loud many a time throughout the book.

This is my first time listening to a BJ Wane book, it won’t be the last time. I enjoyed how he wrote the story quite nicely.

I recommend this book to everyone.

Not a fan of the narrator

The storyline was okay for a short story. The narrator however was not the right one for this read. Her male interpretations made the character unbelievable as a Dom; he sounded more like a goof off lackey. Not impressed at all by this narrator, therefore, it kills the whole story.

Contrivance is the name of this story

I don't think the author has ever been on a real ranch, just seen them on TV. This is what I imagine porn written by aliens must be like.
If bit aliens, this had to have been written by a man. The author seems to think that female nipples are like tiny penises, getting hard when a warm breeze blows by or when a sexy rancher grumbles in a Sam Elliot voice. I'm also pretty sure that the original author probably turned in a half finished manuscript. Instead of hiring someone to really finish it, some editor just wrapped up every single storyline in about 500 words and the story literally just wraps up neatly and ends right in the middle of all of the drama. One minute, the cows are being poisoned. The next, the whole family has flown to Montana, the bad guy has been sent to rehab, and the Main character decides to say fuck it to her long won and much mentioned career and become a barefoot, kitchen dwelling wifey.
The moral or this story? Women don't need jobs or independence or their own income, they just need a strong sexy man to put them in the kitchen and take care of all of their problems for them. The main character, who was introduced as a strong, sexually liberated career woman, quickly has all of her wherewithal stripped and becomes a helpless idiot, constantly literally wandering into trouble and needing to be saved, then punished, then wifed up.
That being said, if you're looking for horrible, trashy erotica, look no further. We got a great laugh from this one.
