About this listen

Cade

I always thought of Silas Rush as my biggest rival on the track and a stuck-up loner off of it. He and his fancy pro career left our crappy hometown in the dust before high school even finished, and then I didn't think of him much at all.

I was too busy trying to keep my little sisters from turning into addicts like our mom, and myself from turning into a rage-junkie like our dad. All while keeping food on the table.

Now he's back, reminding me of all the things I don't have, just like he always did.

Except now we're both adults. And when I… y'know… talk to the guy for once, it looks like my teenage self might have been too distracted to see all the things that Silas didn't have as well.

After catching him at his lowest possible moment, my heart goes out to the guy I used to hate. All my anger turns to guilt, and instead of a rival, I somehow end up with a socially awkward new best friend who's just as screwed up as I am.

Which I can handle. I can admit when I'm wrong. As long as things between us don't get any more complicated or confusing, I can handle it.

Silas

I have a very camera-ready smile. Dad always told me if I wanted to make my pro motocross career stick, I needed to get over all the awkwardness and anxiety that ruined high school for me and learn to act like a real boy for the public.

Never mind that I didn't want to be a pro rider, smile for the camera, or live life with Dad on the road and never know what it's like to have a real friend or—gasp—relationship. Years and years of motocross training, publicity training, and all-the-rest-of-it training, I still don't have a life, and one stupid mistake has left my precious career in the toilet.

The last person I expect to pull me out of this hole is Cade Waters. I'm pretty sure everyone hated me in high school, but Cade was front and center. Which sucked, because, with everyone else, he was sunshine personified. I was always the only person who sparked that anger in him, and I never even knew how I did it.

So, when Cade not only swoops in to help me in my darkest moment but decides to abandon our childhood rivalry and adopt me as his newest bestie/pity project, I'm not sure how to take it.

What I do know is that after a lifetime of having nothing I really wanted, all it takes is one glimpse of Cade's life to get me hooked. He's a mess, sure, just like I am. But all that sunshine… I want to grab onto it with both hands and never let go. No matter how confusing that feeling may be.

Stupid Dirty is a high-heat, high-angst M/M romance about dirt bikes, childhood trauma, and figuring out how to love someone the best way you can. For mature listeners.

I loved Silas and Cade's friendship and eventual sexual/love relationship, I just didn't like how it started.
The narration was very good.

Mostly Very Enjoyable.

overall i really liked the book, my only grip was that the voices did match when one character would voice the other it didnt match to the actual voice actors voice. but apart from that the story is really good

At first I thought it's gonna be like enemies to lovers story and I'm happy it wasn't.
Even though title says Stupid dirty it didn't feel like it, there was a lot of learning about themselve. Teaching each other and finding love in the broken world.

Loved it

This is my first ever experience of an Erin Russell title. The blurb truly didn't give the extent of the plot away and I'm so glad for that. What a fantasticly detailed story it turned out to be, I absolutely loved it and will undoubtedly relisten to it regularly. The character development was really good and blended well with the sensitive topics featured. I'm definitely getting book 2 in the series and I'm going to be looking for more of Erin Russell's work. Both narrators did an amazing job and their tones of voices absolutely matched their personalities which can make it break and audio.

I enjoyed this book a lot and the relationship between Cade and Silas 🥺 they definitely both got their well earned HFN, I say that because they’ve both got a lot of trauma and ptsd to work through and I’m hoping the next book might give us a glimpse into their progress with therapy. Fingers crossed that Cade seeks help also because he’s got a lot of stuff that he needs to work through as well 🫂 I love the way Cade is with his sisters and it was so sweet that Silas accepted them as his own little sisters too, even though he doesn’t really know how family works but he was great with them both.

The only thing that was a bit disappointing, is that I was really looking forward to this being about 15/20 chapters of total enemies/ rivals constantly fighting for first place on the track, having lots of arguments and that sexual tension building and building until they just had to have each other but it was pretty insta (I wouldn’t say love, maybe infatuation) and they were basically close friends after a couple chapters and pretty much together after a couple more.

The spicy 🌶️ scenes were really hot, however I did feel like we got one amazing first scene of them being together but then after that it was just described how they were getting it on almost all day every day for weeks. I would’ve preferred to maybe slow those weeks down and have it described a bit more but that’s just me being a smut queen ig 🤣🤭

I’d probably rate those scenes 3.5/5 🌶️

Both their dads are absolute ASSholeess. Especially Sila’s dad, controlling his entire life because he’s very clearly got trauma of his own that needs sorting through also with a therapist. Like how the hell anyone can stay in the house where they found their wife and child almost dead and then years later his wife actually dead, is beyond me. I could not do it, no matter how broke I was I couldn’t live in the place where looking at that bath everyday was ‘normal’ 💔

Anyway, despite all that he did not have the right to treat Silas the way he did all his life. So messed up but I’m glad Silas got away from him 👋🏼💪🏼

I’ve just seen that Tristan is one MC in the second book and I don’t know how I’m going to feel about him because he annoyed me in this book 😆 I know he was just looking out for Cade but as an EMT and someone who has possibly been in the army, he was pretty harsh towards Silas (yes he was constantly glaring and acting possessive when Tristan was around Cade) but still, he didn’t even try to get to know him just kept warning Cade off him.

Hopefully we can see those two become sort of friends too in the second book 🤞🏼

Overall, a great read, really great narration from both and I’ll look forward to the next one on audible
