Summary

The Sunday Times best seller and Richard & Judy Book Club author of Sleep returns with her most gripping book yet.

Three strangers. Three secrets. And one big lie.

First there’s Ursula. Unable to face up to the tragedy that consumes her, her world has shrunk to an almost unrecognisable state. But a string of missing people—and her housemate’s permanently locked basement door—set off a chain of events that she soon has no control over.

Then Alice, who’s in the first flush of her relationship with Simon, a man she met by chance, and who seems perfectly normal—except that he flinches at the slightest touch.

And Gareth, who lives a humdrum life as he struggles to cope with his mum’s increasing dementia. She can’t remember much about her days—not even when a postcard from his long-dead father comes through the door.

None of these three strangers have ever met, but their worlds will soon collide in the most dramatic way possible, as the lie that has been told is finally answered for....

The master of suspense is back! Prepare yourself for the latest nail-shredding, heart-in-mouth roller coaster ride from the Sunday Times best seller.

Woo hoo a book I couldn’t put down

I didn’t want to stop listening, I was gripped right from the start omg this book is brilliant I love the characters especially Ursula.... I wanted to give her a big hug.
The Narration was brilliant and the interview at the end answered a few questions I’d always wanted to as a narrator... bonus

Excellent book, narrator is marvellous

Loved the characters, missed them when I finished. Predictable villain but thoroughly enjoyed the book. I do like a grreat ending which this had with 'Larry'. Definitely read it x would love to hear these books as a radio show with sound effects.

Didn't want to put it down

So, so good! Brilliantly narrated and really well written. I was gutted every time I had to stop and pause it. With a really lovely little twist at the end. Highly recommend.

Hooked from the first page.

I was hooked at the start. loved the characters, narration was superb as usual from Claire Corbett. It all came together very quickly at the end but several surprises left to the very last pages. A couple of very slightly unbelievable turns but a good listen. very enjoyable.

Just didn’t engage the attention

Sorry but didn’t take to any of the characters and the story was just limp. No feeling of suspense or caring who did what. The narrator was good at the Bristol accent but that’s about it. Lots of better thrillers out there if you have to use a credit.

another great read

yep, definitely loving this author. love how she wove seemingly unconnected lives, chance occurrences, major incidents and human nature into a rich tapestry of words and actions. then those little twists and surprises which connected everything into a thrilling end, then that final little surprise! the narration was perfect.

This was listened to in one sitting!

When you have a combination of C.L. Taylor and Clare Corbett, you are pretty much guaranteed a winner. Strangers did not disappoint! I loved everything about about this book, so much so that I did it in one sitting
You know its a good read when you feel that you know the characters personally. Ursula, in particular, will stay in my mind for a long time.
