Good self help book

This book is great because you don't have to listen straight thru like a normal book you can choose a chapter that fits what is going on at that moment. If you are struggling i definitely recommend spending a few bucks on this book i have had it for a couple years now and still go back and listen it.

No filler words or fluff, just straight talk

I've listen this book several times through out the year. I've even lent this book to close friends, who've also loved the book for its simplicity and direct guidance. No filler words or fluff, just straight talk. Plenty of "ah ha" moments.

A Great Book

I wasn’t sure it was for me. It seemed too simplistic, I guess. But, as I kept going, I realized it was “spot on”. The author manages to describe so many ways in which we sabotage ourselves. We human beings can talk ourselves out of just about every change that would be for the better. This book helped me see that very clearly by describing real life situations where I was playing the lead role! We are our own worst enemies...and it’s time to “get out of our own way” in order to really change. Or, as he says in the last chapter, “life will pass us by.”

Fast and easy habits to build your sense of self-w

Many times we don't realize we are sabotaging our lives. We see things not happening as they should, often blaming others or being puzzled and stagnant. Each chapter is easy-to-Listen and gives insight and actions to take. Several chapters showed me where I was self-defeating and why. Now, I'll take action creating self-developing behaviors and journal my progress and process.

Good to listen

Very, very good. There's no quick answers or changes, but the first step is identifying the thinking and this book helps you do that. Wonderfully, it doesn't seem to say the same thing that every other self help book does, which makes me frustrated. I found this extremely enlightening and hopeful.

Helpful and to the point

This book provides clear and direct solutions that I will be referencing in the future. Chapters are short and not filled with fluff. If you’re on the fence about purchasing, I say give it a try.

Decent book with basic Ideas. Basically, don't screw yourself up with Bad Thinking and Keep Moving Forward. Look far enough ahead and keep control of your emotions.

Helpful Book for Everyone

Like many other people, I never saw myself purchasing a Straight Talk on Assertiveness book. The stigma that surrounds Straight Talk on Assertiveness books didn't exactly make this purchase easy. It's a shame that I didn't purchase this book sooner. At the end of the day, you have nothing to lose by listening this book. It will help you understand yourself and other people a whole lot better. This book was a compilation of 30 years worth of professional psychological data and experiences. I would consider myself to be an intelligent person, but I haven't devoted 30 years of my life to studying human behavior. I find myself stopping several times a day to correct my perspective using the tools I've learned in this book. I am able to handle people I don't exactly care for in a more mature fashion.

Highly recommend!

Good to the point chapters with take away messages at the ends. Very helpful and self reflective. I find it hard to pickup and read books, but I need something to help myself become the person I want to be and can be. With the concise chapters I don’t glaze over and forget what I just read. Should be good to reread in the years to come too.

SO WORTH THE BUY!

This book is a great buy. My Aunt had this book who had given it to my older sister who gave it to me. Once I listen it I was talking with a friend about some things that were complicating his life. They were things similar to mine. I ended up buying him his own copy and he said that it was a really good book as well. Definitely worth the listen. Something good to use to see how you're doing now and where you would like to be, then come back to it a year or more later and see what has changed.

I'm confused

I'm reading the reviews and many of them sound like the ones on Judy Murphy's book Assertiveness: How's to Stand Up for Yourself and Still Win the Respect of Others. I mean they are word for word from the reviews in her book? Many have commented that the reviews here are not real, but we're they copy and pasted from other books?

BUYER BEWARE - Sham

To the sham authors here on audible that copy other people's work and then post a ton of forged reviews, STOP! You think we audible customers can't spot one of your counterfeit books. This is why you are receiving this review. BUYER BEWARE - there is a network of audible piblishers that copy content from legotimate authors and post a bunch of fake reviews to boost their ranking. This is one of them. If you spot others, copy and paste this statement.

valuable insighs

like any skill, I don't think that you should just read one book about self-esteem, confidence, or assertiveness to get a handle on this area of your life, I definitely think this should be included in your list of books. without the key concepts discussed here, all the other advice will not be as effective in getting you to go out and actually practice assertiveness in your life.
