After listening to ‘Shadowvein’ I knew I was emotionally invested in Ellie and Sacha but ‘Stormvein’ somehow managed to make me hurt even more. This one is emotional. Like properly emotional. There were so many moments where my heart was just sitting there going ‘please, can these two catch a break’ or ‘please don’t give up!’
I absolutely adored Ellie in this book. She’s starting to find her confidence and really grow into herself and her powers and I loved watching that happen. Lilly Drake has captured that change so beautifully. You could hear Ellie becoming stronger, more certain of herself and more willing to embrace who she is and I loved every second of it.
And Sacha… He is slowly, painfully and FINALLY coming to terms with his feelings for Ellie and Benjamin Crow absolutely nailed that side of him. You could feel the emotion underneath everything… the hesitation, his vulnerability with her, the feelings he’s clearly trying to make sense of and even push away at times. His narration really brought Sacha to life for me even more than last time.
The spice isn’t particularly high but I didn’t need it to be. When those moments happen, they’re beautifully written and both Lilly and Benjamin read them with so much feeling that they actually mean something to the story rather than just being there for the sake of spice.
This audiobook is definitely one that takes you on an emotional journey and I felt every single bit of it. I smiled, I worried, I got ridiculously attached to these two all over again and… yes… my heart hurt through a LOT of this book with him!
L. Ann has definitely got me invested in this world and these characters and after that ending… well. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!!!

🖤 Absolute top-tier shadow daddy. I loved him so much in book one, but listening to him in this audiobook? The narrator's voice for him is everything. The protective energy, the banter, the agonizing slow-burn tension with Ellie... I was melting into my headphones. 🫠🔥
The pacing was perfect, building up the suspense the dark, intense atmosphere perfectly. The slow-burn romance and banter between Ellie and Sacha kept me completely glued to my headphones, and the emotional delivery during the high-stakes magic scenes was flawless. The ending completely broke me, and the narrator's performance made that brutal cliffhanger hit even harder.
An easy 5 stars—highly recommend!!

There are plenty of ”no she didint moments both good and bad but this author does what she does best to have you litterly on your seat”
The audiobook is duet narration with Lilly Drake and Benjamin Crow, and they do an absolutely an amazing job to make this book more alive for you. The dept, the longing, the adventures is just pure perfection in my book
So exiting and griping story!!!!
