Superficial and generic

The stoicism angle is blatantly used as a gimmick to sell this audiobook. The author gives a few Wikipedia-level lines about the history of stoicism at the start of each chapter, then proceeds to give out generic advice - seemingly orientated primarily to those that are socially anxious; barely bothering to even refer back to stoicism at all. Not only that, but he even references The Princess Bride & Salvador Dali anecdotally - shamelessly padding the audiobook with any old drivel that comes to mind, with minimal clarity and focus. The narration is dreadful with the narrator mangling Greek and Roman names when they are occasionally mentioned - Diogenes becoming ‘Dio-jeans’, Seneca - ‘Sineeka’, Epictetus become ‘Epicdodus’ & several other mispronunciations - the narrator is not even consistent with his mispronunciations, seemingly just blithely reading along. The positive reviews are suspiciously generic and fake; I would not recommend that you waste a credit on this.

Absolute garbage

Read by a auto translator word for word so large sections of what is said doesn't even make sense!

GARBAGE AND FAKE REVIEWS

Judging by the grammar and construction of the stellar reviews for all this authors books I can only conclude that they are fake. It is no coincidence most of his other titles centre around “dark psychology” and “manipulation”.
This book is appalling narrated, terribly written and incoherent. I recommend any works by Great Courses here on audible - I have listened to a few so far and they are credible and intelligent. This is quite the opposite

Disappointing

unnecessary use of some colourful language, stuttering and obvious mistakes that should have been edited out. Not easy to listen to.

Recommended.

I really enjoyed the format of just taking one Stoic thought a day. Great way to begin a day - with a very short listen and most days a good message to reflect and act on for the rest of the day.

Mediocre

it's as if this book has been written by a computer rather than a person. Has weird sayings like glass half vacant instead of glass half full. The narrator was not to my taste and it seemed to me that he didn't quite get the topic so it just sounds off...at one point I could hear an alarm going off in the back ground. i wouldn't recommend wasting time on this.

Excellent book.

This is a daily book on stoicism. Each month has an overarching topic with which each day of the month builds on. The listening for the day starts with a quote from one of the stoics and then the rest of the page discusses the listening and how to use Stoicism philosophy to apply it to one's own life.

I like it for myself,

Very accessible. Original statements, but might be inaccessible for people who are not well listening. Just a little bit better than listening original Shakespeare. I would not have current college students listen it, but the sayings would have to be translated into current language. But I like it for myself, a college professor.

Originally recommended

Great daily listener, that will take you less than two minutes each to equip you with some new thoughts and tools you can immediately apply in your life to improve it. Originally recommended to me through a Tim Ferriss podcast. His book records are rarely less than excellent, and this book is no exception.

Abselutly good book.

listening one entry a day is now part of my nightly routine after I finish evening chores and before I go to sleep. It helps me wind down and focus on what's important and what's in my control, allowing me to let go of noise and distractions from the day, I am so glad that I found this book.

I love it..

I use this as a daily inspiration to explain. It gets me thinking about what is happening in my life or in the world and sometimes alters my perspective in a positive way. It is different from most daily quote books because the quotes are from so long ago, but they still are almost always relevant to today.

Nice..

Something I could keep listening each year over and over to start incorporating these practices into my day to day life. Simple lessons that can have such a huge impact on those around and yourself.
