Developed in 1976 by John Bogle, index funds have become one of the more popular ways to invest in your future. While Bogle worried that investors wouldn’t dive into the Vanguard 500 index fund at the beginning, he quickly found out how hot index funds would become. It's helpful to remember the stock!
It's helpful to remember the stock market is like a cat. Very independent by nature and will do what it wants to do, not what you call or try to make it do. As Matt describes it: "... Many people like to yell at the stock market and tell it what to do. "The stock market is a complex emergent system. It won't listen to you or to anyone else..." That's why you must not only learn its characteristics, you must learn how to think for yourself, as well as heed the warnings and the helpful dos and don'ts contained in "A Beginner's Guide to the Stock Market." It's provides an excellent starting point -- and reminders for the experienced -- towards that goal of "financial fishing" in the stock market pool and netting those financial rewards with the least amount of risk. Important too, especially for the beginner, how and where to start. (Rating 5 stars; Kindle book given me for review.)

Great book!
I had my doubts about this but I found this to be a really good book. It captures a lot of essential information for people getting started in trading stocks. I've probably read about 50 books on trading over the years, a lot of what is in some of those books is useless in today's trading environment. This book distills out the important information and tells you what to do, and more importantly, what not to do. It won't guarantee trading success but it will definitely put you on the right track. Disclosure: I got this book and i loved it that's why i write a review.
