Summary

I don’t want him. I can’t do this. That’s what my ex said after our son was born, leaving me a single dad.

These days, my world consists of two things: Noah and my bar. Until her - the woman I want - but can never have. My ex’s sister wasn’t supposed to be stirred into the mix.

Even though I try to push her away, my son falls in love with her. As much as I want to keep my distance, I can’t break his heart.

Lines become blurred, and fighting our attraction becomes nearly impossible. Even though we know it’s wrong, desire doesn’t always fade away. As soon as we cross that line, nothing will be the same and everything will fall apart. And it does.

Cohen and Jamie!

Fall in love with a single dad, an adorable son and a second chance at happiness for him! Charity Ferrell has a written Stirred, a wonderful story that captured my heart. Cohen was left with a newborn son, Noah, when his girlfriend decided she didn’t want to be a mother. Now in the emergency room, he bumps into her sister, Jamie and now life as they know it is about to change. Building relationships and family, finding your way to your own happiness and understanding life as it is meant to be all come full circle. Cohen is an amazing dad, very protective and knows his own heart. Jamie is loving, and has great instincts but is conflicted. And Noah steals the show with his fun and enthusiasm. It’s heartwarming, and addicting, investing my heart in their happiness.

Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas narrate the story to perfection. I love this team! Laurel is amazing as Jamie. She is the perfect mix of confident and insecure, trying to find herself. We could feel her love and her conflict. Salinas nails Cohen. The over protective dad and loving boyfriend, he brings us all the feels and makes us fall for him. Their voices complement each other and give an entertaining performance.

Noah steals the show

I usually choose books by their trope and go through phases of which is taking top spot.

Any romance with young children usually steals my heart from the moment we're introduced to them and Stirred is no different.

Delightfully we also have enemies to lovers and a bit of forbidden as well as single dad trope in this story which makes it a much richer 'reading' experience.

The story of Cohen and Jamie is enthralling as they try to fight their attraction to each other.

Thankfully they succumb and what we get is a beautiful story of a man fighting for the right thing for his son. His desires take second place until they ultimately push their way to the front.

I loved this novel and can't wait to delve into the stories of the other characters who starred in Stirred.

Worst actors 🤦🏽‍♀️

I love her books but I wish she would pay attention to the audio. The voices are awful. Words pronounced incorrectly and names not inline with the series either. Just poor.

Single dad romance at its finest!

(Spoiler-free Review)
I was so definitely pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed and loved reading this book. Not that I went in expecting to hate it, but I like ended up really loving it!

Basically, years after being abandoned with his son by his ex (& son’s mum), Cohen runs into her younger sister, Jamie, who used to crush on him. Chaos ensures they obviously don’t get on due to their history. But of course, it all ends in romance! 🥰❤️

I really loved it! It was angsty in the right places, funny, sweet, and def provided all the feels. I also loved the new friendship and relationship that Jamie formed with her nephew.

Also enjoyed the banter between the supporting characters & cannot wait to read their books. I will def be carrying on with this series.

Cohen and Jamie a forbidden, single dad romance

This is the first audio book that I have listened to by this author and I totally loved the listening experience. The narrators, Lacy Laurel and Gregory Salinas really brought this story to life from the start and worked well together.

Jamie is a Doctor whose older sister broke Cohen's heart when she walked out on him and their newborn son, Noah.  Cohen will do anything to protect Noah, including keeping him from his mothers family.  Fast forward five years and a trip to A&E where a chance encounter with Jamie, Noah's Doctor, results in sparks flying again from an old crush that Jamie had on her older sister's boyfriend.  Cohen feels it too, although he tries hard to deny it, that is until Noah falls ill again and Cohen calls Jamie to check on him, instead of taking his son to A&E.

What follows is a well written, sweet, romantic story that has an equal amount of drama and steam, and has you rooting for the main characters as they both try to deny their feelings for each other.  It doesn't help that Noah really likes Jamie, as does Cohen's sister but can Cohen trust another woman again, especially his ex's sister, with both his and his son's heart? Will they overcome everything to have a HEA, you will have to listen to this to find out.  Another thing I loved about this audio is that there were a lot of different character relationships introduced in this first book of the Twisted Fox series, setting out the foundations of many books to come and I can't wait to discover more of their stories.

This audio book will not disappoint you if you love a sweet, hot, forbidden, single dad romance - I listened to this in one day, as I couldn't wait to see how it ended.

I received a complimentary copy of this audio from the author and this is my honest review.

Cohen and Jamie!

It’s been five years since Cohen’s ex-girlfriend Heather gave birth to their son Noah and than left to pursue the life she wanted to live with no concern about those she left behind. Cohen was determined to ensure that nothing or no one would hurt his son so he refused to allow her family into their lives until a medical emergency changes everything.

Jamie is not only Heather’s sister but a doctor as well. She didn’t agree with what Heather did but she has also crushed on Cohen for as long as she can remember. She wants to be part of Noah’s life and is determined to prove to Cohen that she would never hurt him or his son. Noah has fallen in love with Jamie and isn’t long before the father does as well but when the past resurfaces will it bring them closer or tear them apart?

This is a story about love, family, healing from the past and it definitely has all the feels. The narrators did a great job with both the emotion of the story and the characters.

Great Listening

Ok... so, normally I wouldn't be interested in a sibling's ex story- but since it's a Charity Ferrell book I thought I would chance it.
And boy, am I glad that I did.
It's super sweet.
The sexual tension-the want and the longing- made it absolutely riveting.

Single dad? Yes, please!
Awesome secondary characters? Check.
Do I want their stories as well? Also check.

Lacy and Gregory did a great job with narration.

Always love a single dad romance

This was such a good, quick listen. Jamie is an ER doctor, and Cohen comes in with his son. You see, Cohen is Jamie’s sister’s ex-boyfriend - but there is no love loss there.

This is such an angsty romance but on the lighter side of angst. I truly enjoyed the relationship they built together and how Noah (the kiddo) fit in so seamlessly.

I did listen to this on audio and while I didn’t LOVE the female narrator (just a personal choice), they both did a great job narrating this book.

Narration needs work, but storyline was good

I enjoyed the storyline throughout the book. But the narration made me lose interest.

single dad forbidden slow burn

Whew, Jamie and Cohen were a slow burn in the best way.
This single dad forbidden secret pining story had me in the feels.
Cohen is a single dad of the cutest little dude, Noah. Jamie is Noah's mother's sister, however, Noah doesn't know that. He thinks Jamie is just his dad's friend. Cohen needs help with Noah and Jamie steps in. She's always had feelings for Cohen, but obviously kept those under wraps since he's her sister's ex. Slowly feelings come to the surface, truths are told, and their chemistry and attraction bubbles to the surface and takes over.
Charity maneuvered this entire forbidden situation like a pro and the story line was on point! My only minus is the female narration. I don't feel like Lacy fit the character at all and kind of made Jamie sound a tad whiny. Gregory was ah-mazing!

It’s so swoony

The mutual pining and longing is so well done here, not to mention I’m such a sucker for a messy and complicated story.

The narration? I was always a fan of the male narrator before and this just cemented it even more. The female narrator, I’ve learned that while she may not be a favorite of mine personally, she did so well in getting the emotions across and really making you feel the good and the bad

Story was good; narrators were bad.

Let me start this off by stating that I’m an audiobook consumer. I listen to 2-3 books a day. So when I say the narration is bad, the narration is bad. The female just didn’t fit and at time she was incredibly hard to understand. For this reason alone I nearly stopped the book midway through. But I stuck with it and am glad I did since the story was actually a good read. Too bad the narrative took away from it.

My first Charity Ferrell book!!!!

I have had this book on my TBR for some time now and had the opportunity to listen to it. First let me say I absolutely LOVED this story. The characters (all of them) held my attention. The female narrator took a bit to get used to. The male narrator was great from the beginning.

Cohen had his heart broken when his girlfriend/mother of his son walked out of their lives and signed her rights away like it was nothing. He cut off all communication with anyone from her family and has raised his son his own with help from his sister. Imagine the shock he feels when one day he has to take Noah to the ER and his ex's sister is the doctor.

Jamie always crushed on Cohen but he was 1,000% off limits considering her sister is the mother of his son. Now years later she decides to take a chance and asks Cohen if she can be in Noah's life. While hesitant at first he allows it and over time they start growing closer and closer.

The tension with these two was top notch. There were some bumps in their road but it was enjoyable to see Jamie take charge and go after what she wanted instead of considering everyone else over her happiness and Cohen being right there ready for her!

This series is off to a great start and I cannot wait to get to the rest of the books in the series.

Love This Author

Stirred is the perfect beginning to the Twisted Fox series. I like the characters, I can't help but root for Jamie and Cohen. Heather is the type of woman I can't understand and don't like very much. I love Georgia, the tension with Archer is kinda funny. I have a theory about those two. I really like Charity Ferrel's books. I'm sure this series is gonna be very good, I'm excited to find out.

It’s Okay . . . Not The Best . . .

It’s just okay; it’s not the best romance novel I’ve ever read . . . I think the main thing that made it just okay for me was that all the female characters were kinda annoying & I didn’t feel like I could really connect with them because of this. At one point, I even got annoyed with Jamie, the MAIN character, the one you’re supposed to be ROUTING for. She just got really whiny in ski trip scene & I was like, “C’mon; I know you’re not really an outdoorsy person, but you’re acting WORSE than your 5-year-old nephew is right now AND you AGREED to go this trip in the first place for HIS birthday!” 😒 Also, the mother annoyed me at some points, too . . . The way she INSISTED that Heather, Jamie’s sister, stay with Jamie even when she KNEW that the 2 sisters didn’t really get along . . . It’s like, “Why can’t Heather stay over at her parents while she fines a place of her own? Answer: Just to create even MORE unnecessary drama ton the story. That’s it.” But it was really Heather that really got on my nerves. First of all, her behavior just confused me: she wan’t acting like a domestic violence survivor AT ALL. She didn’t try to go back to her abuser ONCE, like so many of them do. She didn’t “blame” it all on yourself, either. She even was mad when she woke up at the hospital; again, not with her abuser, but at her own family. She didn’t seem to be really affected at all by the abuse, either. Almost like she made it all up for attention or something. The whole thing was just really weird and not like a DV survivor AT ALL. AND she was REALLY annoying, too. I found myself asking, “Okay, why did Cohen stay in the relationship for as long as he did? She’s clearly not a very nice person to begin with & Cohen doesn’t really seem to have a lot in common with her, anyway . . . Maybe if they showed more flashbacks to when they were together . . . 🤔 But, anyway, the only characters that DIDN’T annoy me were the men . . . Cohen, hot, single dad who owns a bar, & Noah, his 5-year-old little boy (I guess he’s six now that he had a birthday in the book . . . 😅). Yes, a 5-year-old didn’t annoy me as much as the woman did! 😆 Anyway, I am still gonna continue this series because, despite all this, it did have me smiling and laughing by the end . . . Let’s hope Georgia isn’t so annoying . . . 😉

Great story

I really did enjoy the story, but the female character was pretty naive that it got a little annoying. She does grow through the book a little at a time so that’s a plus. The male narrator was perfect. The female narrator was a little annoying. Her voice didn’t really fit the story for me.
