Summary

Staying at Daisy's from Sunday Times best-selling author Jill Mansell is essential reading if you love the novels of Cathy Kelly and Milly Johnson.

Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who's about to get married there, she isn't worried at all - her friend, Tara, absolutely promises there won't be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn't seen for years. But Dominic has other ideas....

Meanwhile, Hector's getting up to all sorts with...well, that's the village's best kept secret. And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy's been doing her best to forget. That's the thing about hotels - you never know who you're going to meet. Or whether they're going to stay....

Brilliant

I loved it! The narrator was excellent, in fact she was brilliant, so many different accents. The story held my interest all the way through with its twists
and turns . I will certainly be listening to another book by Jill Mansell and books narratored by Penelope Freeman.

Really good fun and brilliantly narrated

At first I thought I was n’t going to like this book, as it seemed a bit dated, and over acted by the narrator, but I started to really enjoy it after the first couple of chapters. It is funny, and had me chuckling quite a lot, but it also has some believable and endearing characters and interesting story lines. Penelope Freeman really acts out the story, rather than just reading it, which doesn’t work with some narrators, but she does it amazingly well, and her accents are spot on. I especially loved Hector’s voice and character, over the top, but very real and likeable. I was sorry to finish this book and say goodbye to the people in it.

talented narrator

I loved this book, some of the best narration I've heard and a story that's very easy to relax and sink into every time you pick up audible. A soothing read; very predictable but wonderfully enjoyable.

A right dogs dinner

How is it that human relationships can get so messy because of lack of communication? Almost in the league of a Brian Rix farse this story dragged slightly but earned its 4* award because of the clever dialogue, good reading and easy entertainment. Up with the high standard of most of her books this is stress free listening and worth the time taken to hear the story out.
