Refreshing and funny, totally relatable and an all around enjoyable listen, Bethany Lopez's Starter Wife is a winner! I love her new adult books, but I do enjoy listening to the over 40 perspective too. Whitney is recently divorced, jobless and trying to start over after 20 years of marriage. When she joins a support group, she finds a couple of friends that she can easily relate to and they form the Jilted Wives Club. Luca, a successful businessman has not found the woman of his dreams yet. Sure, he has dated, but nothing serious. When Whitney crosses his path, his life is about to change.Will Whitney be willing to take the chance on love again? Is Luca willing to take on a woman with an ex and children? This romcom had me laughing and understanding exactly these women! There is a lot of emotional baggage incurred over 20 years as well as a fear of starting new. Let alone the handsome man is younger! The kids are spot on with their feelings and I love the interaction with Luca's family and Whitney's ex. It's got all the elements to make a heavy subject into a light and enjoyable listen. I loved it and can't wait to hear the next in the series.

Amanda Miller is our story teller and she gives us a wonderful rendition of the story. Good voices, easily distinguishable characters and an easy pace make the listen fly by. It was a fun story!

Starter Wife by Bethany Lopez is a contemporary romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amanda Miller. This is the first book in The Jilted Wives Club.

Bethany's books always leave me with a smile. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Whitney and Luca. I loved that we got both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Trophy Wife to be released on audio so I can get Summer and Noah's story.

Amanda did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

Such a fun listen! This story has age gap, office romance, & single mom tropes. Britney, Summer & Margot meet when they all flee a support group. They seem like an unlikely trio of friends, but they work, and form The Jilted Wives club. Luca hasn’t had a relationship since high school, so his immediate interest in Britney is unusual. I got immersed in their story, navigating work & families. It’s a great look at divorce, dating, returning to the work force, merging families, and I appreciated the mature, thoughtful way Britney behaved. Krys Janae brought the characters to life brilliantly.
