Story
By the age of 13, vulnerable Sheffield teenager Samantha Owens had fallen through the cracks in the care system. Bounced around numerous foster carers after her home life became too chaotic, Samantha thought she had found a friend in the streetwise Amanda Spencer. The older girl bought her clothes, styled her hair and found her places to stay. Samantha's welfare was the last thing on Spencer's mind, however, as in reality she was grooming the young girl for exploitation of the worst possible kind.

The majority of her abusers were Pakistani men, who were blatant in their attacks upon her, often collecting her from school or home, to be taken to flats they owned, family homes, or hotels booked for the day, to be horrifically and systematically abused.

Story
From the outside, there was no reason to suspect the family life of young schoolchild Keri was anything but unremarkable. Two loving parents, a backdrop of 1960s Britain; life had provided for her, at least with the riches of modesty. Keri herself however, would often confound teachers with her erratic behaviour, which was at best sullen and withdrawn; at worst violently disruptive. When challenged, she would only exacerbate her growing reputation as a fantasist; weaving terrible tales about the "abuse" she was suffering at the hands of her very creators.

Story
Cassie was only 13 when her mother died of a degenerative illness, leaving her vulnerable to sexual predators in the Halifax area who had been grooming her since the age of 11. She fell through the net of the care system and reached out for friendship, only to be consumed by an escalating spiral of abuse. This harrowing and truly shocking story captures in vivid detail how gangs of men were able to ply a child with drink and drugs, then rape her and pass her around their associates with no one seemingly able to step in and prevent it.

Story
In this much-publicised third volume, Kat recounts her early-mid teen years; no longer a small child, but a girl on the cusp of adolescence. Still traumatized by her early experiences, but not entirely without that sense of vague hope that is the inalienable property of youth. Now at Duncroft Approved School for “emotionally disturbed girls”, her life had come to resemble that of a prisoner; a good day was a bad one and a bad day was horrific.

Summary
Hi there, my name is Joey. Today I'm just another 30-something-year-old guy, living the suburban dream in southern California. But there's something my neighbors don't know about me. Something you'd never guess about me. Something, that up until these past couple of weeks, I'd never dream about telling you. Something you wouldn't believe.
I was, in the most horrific of manners, and by the most unlikely of people, sexually abused as a child.
Not shocked? Well, wait until you hear the full story.
Warning: This book is based upon a true story of child abuse, and as such contains passages that some listeners may find disturbing.

This story had several triggers for me as a survivor of child abuse. The connections that the therapist made with "joey" mirrored some of my own therapy outcomes. Idk why I picked this story of abuse to read, it's my first and last. I learned that I need reading to be a peaceful time of enjoyment, not a trip down a scary memory lane.
