Summary

No war can last forever. Now, in the long and punishing battle between the defiant champions of the New Jedi Order and the juggernaut that is the Galactic Alliance, the endgame is finally at hand.

The rebel cause is losing ground under the twin blows of Admiral Gilad Pellaeon's assassination and the death of Mara Jade Skywalker. At the same time, the Galactic Alliance, with the extraordinary power and dark brilliance of newly ascendant Sith Lord Darth Caedus at its helm, may be unstoppable.

Tormented and torn between the call of duty and the thirst for vengeance, Luke has searched the Force and beheld an unspeakable vision of the galaxy enslaved under tyranny more monstrous than even Palpatine's. Now it seems that the last, best hope lies in mobilizing the scattered Jedi for one decisive search-and-destroy mission. The objective: eliminate Darth Caedus.

It's a plan that will be as difficult and dangerous to execute as it is daring. For Caedus is a scion of both the Skywalker and Solo bloodlines whose command of the Force surpasses even that of his grandfather, Darth Vader. There is only one who is bound by destiny to stand against him in what will surely be a duel to the death, only one with an outside chance of bringing down the dark lord who was once Jacen Solo

The furious final moments between power and peace are here, and whoever confronts Darth Caedus will decide the outcome - and the fate of those left standing.

Great End To A Fantastic Series!!

Such a great ending to such an amazing series!! Seeing the culmination of Jacen Solo's fall to the Dark Side and having to pay for all the atrocities he caused!! Amazing Writing, I enjoyed reading the book years ago, but enjoyed it even more so on Audible!!

Truly Entertaining!

Very well done for a Star Wars audiobook. Even though it is abridged, the 6 hour run-time leaves enough material to make this audiobook entertaining. That said, you can still notice gaps where, I assume, material was cut out for the abridgement. This can be annoying after a while. I won't beat around the bush, I loathe any abridgement and I would encourage people to complain to the publisher so that they will begin releasing unabridged versions of these books. Other than that, this book was excellent. Marc Thompson is one of the most talented narrators that I have heard. It is a pleasure to listen to him. The different character voices that he assumes throughout the book are executed flawlessly and I had to keep reminding myself that it was the same person speaking. The writing, sound production, and music were all top notch. I would give this 5 stars if not for the abridgement.

One last thing, stay away from any of the star wars audiobooks that are less than 6 hours in length. They are so butchered by the abridgements, that they are not worth your time or money. Quite a few of these are narrated by Anthony Heald and he is just plain awful. I found this out the hard way. Just remember, Anthony Heald = extremely poor narration. Jonathan Davis = Extremely good narration. Marc Thompson = Outstanding narration.

Good for Abridged

This is an abridged version so quite a bit of the book is left out. One thing missing are Jacen's jokes at the beginning of each chapter. There is also alot of description missing. But . . . you can follow the story and you do get the main part of what the authors of this series were trying to get across. It really isn't bad for abridged. I wish audible would do unabridged of these.

Invincible

This is the story brings everything to hard close. Obviously read the novel (it’s abridged and apparently the morons at Disney hate $$$$$. Or all Legends novels would be unabridged. They were all New York Times Best Sellers. Maybe not number one. But almost always in the top ten). Jaina has finished training with Boba Fett to take down her brother. Tensions are high. Jacen has the galaxy in his grip...but at the cost of everything. This is real Star Wars.

Way too short

I hate these abridged versions of this series. Please release the unabridged versions. Things just seem to randomly happen. Characters just appear places they shouldn't be based on the story that's being performed. If we had the missing parts we'd have been understanding of everything that's going on.

Worth waiting for

My son has been waiting for this since he finished listening to Book 8. He loved it and could not wait to get back into the car to hear more, he was actually hoping for red lights to make the drives to school longer. It was a good end to the story and we are looking forward to future stories with the characters we have watched grow over the years.

Decent for abridged.

Quick thought. I can’t help but picture Hayden Christensen when trying to visualize Darth Caedus. And thankfully have been able to use the Anakin from Clone Wars when visualizing Vader or Anakin. Anyway. But after completing this entire series I can say it overall is average at best. My biggest complaint is the Jedi Order portrayal. I’m okay with the theory and perception that the Jedi are actually the enemies of the galaxy without even realizing. But if the goal is to show them as the heroes of these stories. Then please god someone evaluate their decisions. It’s ridiculous. Luke may be powerful, and can see into the future, but damn that guy is dumb. I understand that a few smart choices or actions by Luke would eliminate 99% of the drama of the series. But seriously find other ways to make the negative stuff happen. Cuz Luke’s “Legend” status is questionable at best. And for Darth Caedus supposedly being more powerful than his grandfather, there wasn’t even the slightest sense of that. Other than he could flow walk which was interesting.

a great way to end a series.

for a series of books that were all abridged, that's really the only complaint I have. short of that, especially written by 3 different authors, It was a phenomenal series and experience. all the books were cohesive and fluent, the narrator, Mark Thompson, was amazing as usually. easy, to listen to, hard to stop. highly recommend it for people who are deep into star wars lore.
