About this listen

Based on the screenplay and story by George Lucas

In barren desert lands and seedy spaceports...in vast underwater cities and in the blackest depths of space...unfolds a tale of good and evil, of myth and magic, of innocence and power. At last the saga that captured the imagination of millions turns back in time to reveal its cloaked origins - the start of a legend - the story of STAR WARS . Based on the screenplay by George Lucas, this novel by master storyteller Terry Brooks probes the depths of one of the greatest tales of our time, providing rich detail and insight into the minds and motives of the characters - and shedding bold new light on Lucas' brilliant creation.© and (P)1999 Lucasfilm LTD. & TM.

“Breathless . . . filled with action from page one.”—New York Post

The overall reading is great, decent sound affects enhancing the story, I really enjoyed it. Though its let down by minor annoying things (one is me bring picky...the other is more valid). 1st miss pronunciation of a significant characters name repeatedly with the 2nd being the intrusion of sound affects over the pod race. Considering how well the sound affects are handled elsewhere it's quite jarring how loud they are during this action scene, with the narrator really being lost to the added effects. Which is why I've marked the book down slightly overall.

Decent with a few minor issues.....

Great listen to a story most of us have all already watched on the big screen originally or simply on the box set. Happy to listen to this and recommend it to anyone who is just listening to the Star Wars stories in chronological order, big thumbs up.

Great listen.

I loved reliving some of the movie parts and stories, but there are several flaws. Some of the story plots are not accurate with the movies or the know lore out there. Even the lore that was available when the book was made.
Also the narrator didn’t use the names which have been adopted in all movies and thus not using the proper pronunciation, and sometimes also not having the same kind of character for the ones he voices.

But all in all an enjoyable listen for if you’re a Star Wars fan.

Great audio book, not accurate
