About this listen

Laura Bishop just nabbed her first decorating commission - staging for sale a 19th-century mansion that hasn't been updated for decades. But when a body falls from a laundry chute and lands at Laura's feet, replacing flowered wallpaper becomes the least of her duties.

To clear her young assistant of the murder and save her fledgling business, Laura's determined to find the killer. Turns out it's not as easy as renovating a manor home, especially with two handsome men complicating her mission: the police detective assigned to the case and the real estate agent trying to save the manse from foreclosure.

Worse still, the meddling of a horoscope-guided friend, a determined grandmother, and the local funeral director could get them all killed before Laura props the first pillow.

A story with little substance and rather bad American reader. Sorry, just not my thing. Too coy and insubstantial.

A mildly enjoyable tale

I enjoyed this book. The only annoying thing, well I found it annoying was at the start of each chapter you were given a tip on how to sell your home, I didn't see the point of that. The only good thing was they were only a couple of sentences. Otherwise I liked it. The mystery was interesting with a number of suspects to keep you guessing, although there was a lot and I needed a clue as to who each was to keep them all straight, this might have just been because I took a while to listen to the book and it wasn't the authors fault. I liked the main character and could easily see her and the book stating on the Hallmark channel, it's that type of mystery. A good start to a series I will visit again.
Laura is just starting her new business staging homes to help them sell and her first customer won't be easy. The lady doesn't want to sell her 19th century mansion but has no choice and worst of only she doesn't think it needs changing. Laura and her assistant have there work cut out for them and that's before somebody killers her and shoves her down the laundry shut. This happens just hours after her assistant is sent home by the home owner, making him the prime suspect. After the police arrest him his grandmother turns to Laura to clear his name. Can she finish staging the home for the ex to sell and find a killer? Trying to do so will put her life and others in danger.
I liked the narrator. She had a pleasant sounding voice which was easy to listen to.
