Summary

From New York Times best-selling author, Kristen Proby, comes Spells, the next installment in her gripping Bayou Magic series…

As a powerful hedgewitch and psychic, there isn’t much I can’t work to my advantage and finesse with a spell. Love, fortune, and even the perfect cup of coffee are all possible with the snap of my fingers.

But some things are utterly beyond my control.

Like the powerful and broody warlock who’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember - and even the lifetimes I often can’t. Things almost as dangerous as Lucien Bergeron’s hold on me and the breathtaking smiles only I get to see.

Or the evil still stalking the streets of New Orleans that beckons to me to see. To feel. To die.

With everything riding on a razor's edge, and things that have been portended coming to fruition, threatening both me and those I love, I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to resist my fate. Or his charm.

If I work with Lucien, it could mean the end for both of us.

If I don’t, those I love most will pay.

Everything I love in a novel

This is a perfect combination of modern love story with period drama sprinkled throughout. Then add the paranormal crime element and this book takes you into a different world. The narration was such a good match with the characters. Would highly recommend.

WOW!

This second book of Bayou Magic is amazing. As Millie realizes her connection to Lucien and stops fighting it and him. they are connected in mind and body. Horace has found a way to come back and terrorize New Orleans. The ending is a cliffhanger for Daphne's story and hopefully the sisters can find a way to defeat Horace for good. I can't wait for the final book. Kristen Proby is a great writer. Samantha Brentmoor, Jason Clarke, and Lee Samuels, are fantastic narrators.

Thriller/romance

This second book of the series continues with the story of Millicent and Lucien. The story is great but be warned, this is not a typical romance. The gory acts of a serial killer, dark magic, and suspense are the focus of this book and it would be categorized as a “clean romance”. Plenty of love and romantic memories but really no steam if that’s what you expect. This does continue with some characters from Kristen Proby’s Beaudreaux series and is set in New Orleans but it is a definite departure from the style of her With Me series. An enjoyable read but need to be in the right mood for it.
