A British agent investigating the rogue state's nuclear capabilities has gone missing. The secretive nature of life in Pyongyang means that unfamiliar adults would attract suspicion and fall under immediate surveillance. So the cadets form part of a young pioneers tour to the North Korean capital. Once there, they must use their skills and training to find out more about the missing agent. In the course of their investigations, they forget the one rule every undercover operator must obey: trust nobody.

Summary
Tough enough? Smart enough? Max will require all his skills just to stay alive as a Special Forces Cadet....
A top-secret government programme needs a crack team of undercover military operators. They must have awesome levels of determination, endurance and fitness. They must be able to think on their feet. The recruits undergo the most rigorous and testing selection process the modern military can devise. And in order to operate in circumstances where adult forces would be compromised, the recruits must be under 16. Only a few are tough enough and smart enough to make it. And once out in the field, they will require all their skills just to stay alive. Which is what happens when Max Silver, Abby Asher, Lukas Channing and Sami Hakim are sent into an armed siege in an inner-city school....
From the best-selling author of Strike Back, Chris Ryan returns with a new action-packed series.

An unusual Chris Ryan book
This book did not follow the usual Chris Ryan adventures. The story lacked reality though the theme was credible. I was also disappointed that it was much shorter than his other books.

Totally unrealistic
The story starts off with a lad in care and the same old thing how hard it is and the government recruited people from care before they are even 16 and have left school. All of a sudden the children already know what direction the sun rises and can map read and know how to strip weapons and are natural marks men and super fit. They are then put in a mission after all of 4 days training to stop professional terrorist and defuse bombs.
I kept wishing it would get better. Utterly dreadful

Great entertainment!
The narration was fabulous! All the accents and character development were really strong. The story plot was a little to easy to work out early (even some of the hoped for ‘shock reveals’, but this did not deter for a hugely enjoyable listen. The suspense was so well handled even if one could sometimes guess the outcome. On with the rest of the series… 👍🏼☺️
