Shame about the recording quality

The story's good, but the recording (or rather the editing) quality isn't up to much. There are multiple repeated bits and retries that haven't been edited out...

The narration is a bit stilted too. Not all the time but in many places.

I like the story

I like the story. Pretty entertaining when you need a light book to listen to. Not really crazy about the narrator. She sometimes makes the book feel like it's dragging in places.

Very good story. Narration improved.

Still following this series because the story is that good... But..The most annoying thing is the constantly mispronounced common words. (ie: SUV.. pronounced SUVEE.) Also pacing is still not right and still not using contractions. That being said I just have to find out what happens next.

Narrator

Where on earth did you find the narrator for this series. She has to be on of the worst I’ve ever heard. Many lines are repeated and the overall narration is just bad

Not a terrible book still a bad performance

So the audio audio levels are better, less jerking, smoother volume from one word to the next but absolutely no proofing and very little editing. At one point there is a man's voice correcting her. She still re reads a line about once or twice a chapter sometimes more.

The dialogue is often unnaturally formal. Honestly a good editor for the book and a proper recording studio would do wonders for this series. Alas while it seems like simple fixes the truth is the whole thing screams budget basement affair. Something found dusty on a shelf in a remote truck stop. It's a descent destruction w when the radio is out...

Last thing Fergus seems to have taken a back seat on this book and that's definitely a detriment in my opinion.

A good story

while I am enjoying the story, I am have serious reservations about the production quality. The recording is tinny and you can hear sections of inserted dialog. it is very distracting and takes away from the performance

Great series

What made the experience of listening to Special Agent in Charge the most enjoyable?

I really enjoyed this book. The narrator does a wonderfull job. The only down side is not all the series books are on audio.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chuck; he is the nerd who always get pick on. Yetbis still a big lovable teddy cat.

Have you listened to any of Francis Alais’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes. This is her best work yet.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Could not sleep till I listen to the whole book.

Any additional comments?

Need the rest of the series on audio.
