Story
Taking 36 songs from his back catalogue, folk-punk icon Frank Turner explores his songwriting process. Find out the stories behind the songs forged in the hedonistic years of the mid-2000s North London scene, the ones perfected in Nashville studios and everything in between. Some of these songs arrive fully formed, as if they've always been there; some take graft and endless reworking to find 'the one'. In exploring them all, Turner reflects with eloquence, insight and self-deprecating wit on exactly what it is to be a songwriter.

Local guitar teachers seem like a great option at first, but you could risk getting stuck with a wannabe rock star who can't really teach you. Or you could try books, but most books are far too bulky and will leave you no better than where you started. Strumming a chord or two is not enough, nor is shredding a mindless solo piece. If you do not understand the essentials of music theory, you will never learn to truly play the guitar.

Informative insight for beginners only.
A common-sense exploration of what forms a song and how to organise thoughts into lyrics. A decent 101 for beginners, but very lacking in actual examples to help explain the theory beyond just discussion which may frustrate those looking for greater insight to get their teeth into and analyse.
At barely 43 mins long though, it serves beginners well enough to set them on the right path at least.
