Summary
A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is a novel from international sensation Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars.
Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes?
Meet Sam...
She's not got much, but she's grateful for what she has: a job she's just about clinging on to and a family who depend on her for everything. She knows she's one bad day away from losing it all - and just hopes today isn't it...
Meet Nisha...
She's got everything she always dreamed of - and more: a phenomenally rich husband; an international lifestyle; and...she's just been locked out of all of it after her husband initiates divorce proceedings...
Sam and Nisha should never have crossed paths. But after a bag mix-up at the gym, their lives become intertwined - even as they spiral out of control.
Each blames the other as they feel increasingly invisible, forgotten, lost - and desperately alone.
But they're not.
No woman is an island. Look around. Family. Friends. Strangers.
Even the woman you believe just ruined your life might turn out to be your best friend.
Because together you can do anything - like take back what is yours...

Extremely disappointed
Although I did want to keep listening to this audiobook I found it really difficult. It starts off promising but goes downhill quickly. The style of writing was extremely disappointing, many phrases repeated, adverbs every five minutes and generally very unimaginative. The characters became more unlikable and unbelievableI as the story progressed. I was very glad to finish it. It may be something to read on the beach but great writing it is not.

I totally enjoyed this from start to finish...although some of the accents were annoying they were done brilliantly by the narrator. Such well portrayed characters and the story did keep me entertained and engaged ...I was sorry when the end came...definately will get Jojo Moyes next audiobook...

standard chick lit
predictable and dragged out. Daisy Ridley was good but the voice felt too young to portray middle aged women.

JoJo has done it again
Who could imagine what might happen when two ladies mix up their bags at the gym? They have to literally walk in each others shoes! A story of misunderstanding, friendship and a little romance with highs and lows which kept me listening breathlessly until the very end.

Fabulous Book Great Narration
This is a terrific Jo Jo Moyes book. I have enjoyed many of her books and this is one of the best. What makes a book a winner for me? When I can’t put it down, even listening while on bus or car rides, and very relatable main characters. I am happy to report that this book ticked all the boxes.
Nisha and Sam are from two very different worlds but their fates become entwined when Sam accidentally picks up Nisha’s gym bag, containing a very pricey pair of Christian Louboutin heels.
Something amazing happens when Sam dares to wear the stunning shoes. She becomes more self- confident and assertive, and in turn, she sets in motion a change of events that will shake up her mundane life.
Nisha is dealing with her own set of problems and while she always believed herself to be extremely confident, also finds new strength. I absolutely loved the clever plot and the supporting characters. While the ending was little predictable, I still enjoyed every minute of this wonderful, empowering story. Highly recommend!
Favorite quotes:
There is a shorthand in women this age, Sam realizes. There is none of the sharp elbows of their twenties and thirties, not an ounce of competitiveness. By their
late forties and fifties, they’re all survivors, of death, divorce, disease, trauma, of something.”
“Some days I’ve felt like I don’t even exist. It’s hard for you to imagine now, while you’re young and beautiful and everyone notices every move you make. But I seem to be invisible, these days, and when even the man you love doesn’t see you it’s . . . well, it’s pretty soul-destroying. I needed to feel like a different version of myself— and the shoes, I guess, were a part of that.”

The narration was very good. I really enjoyed this overall. It was light and entertaining. Perfect book for that "background narration" whilst you are doing your everyday things. Not too deep.
