About this listen

A story of mix-ups, mess-ups and making the most of second chances, this is the new novel from international sensation Jojo Moyes, author of Me Before You and The Giver of Stars

'A delightful reverse-Cinderella story of two women who seem polar opposites - until circumstance forces them to experience each other's lives. Nobody writes women the way Jojo Moyes does - recognizably real and complex and funny and flawed' JODI PICOULT

Who are you when you are forced to walk in someone else's shoes?

Meet Sam . . .
She's not got much, but she's grateful for what she has: a job she's just about clinging on to and a family who depend on her for everything. She knows she's one bad day away from losing it all - and just hopes today isn't it . . .

Meet Nisha . . .
She's got everything she always dreamed of - and more: a phenomenally rich husband; an international lifestyle; and . . . she's just been locked out of all of it after her husband initiates divorce proceedings . . .

Sam and Nisha should never have crossed paths. But after a bag mix-up at the gym, their lives become intertwined - even as they spiral out of control.

Each blames the other as they feel increasingly invisible, forgotten, lost - and desperately alone.

But they're not.

No woman is an island. Look around. Family. Friends. Strangers.
Even the woman you believe just ruined your life might turn out to be your best friend.
Because together you can do anything - like take back what is yours . . .

Critic reviews

This blast of a book throws two wildly different women together for a giddily joyful caper that reminds anyone who may have forgotten — don’t mess with a woman over 40
The antidote to February that we all need. A blast of a book . . . There's something rather giddily joyful about this tale of women pulling together, and Moyes writes about their high jinks, tribulations and amorous entanglements with warmth and a wonderfully wicked sense of humour
Do shoes make the woman... or does the woman make the shoes? Jojo Moyes' new novel is a delightful reverse-Cinderella story of two women who seem polar opposites - until circumstance forces them to experience each other's lives. Nobody writes women the way Jojo Moyes does - recognizably real and complex and funny and flawed - which is what makes her novels an auto-buy for me (Jodi Picoult, #1 NYT bestselling author)
Someone Elses Shoes is SO MUCH FUN. Beautiful about female friendship and brilliant on being a woman of a certain age who won't take any more sh*te! (MARIAN KEYES)
A book we all need in our lives right now. A fabulous and funny romp
Very few authors have the power to make you laugh on one page and cry on the next. Moyes is one of them
A paean to women's solidarity wrapped up in a very funny revenge-fuelled caper
Riotously fun and an ode to strong female friendships
[A] captivating new blockbuster. Superb. Once you step into the lives of Sam and Nisha, you'll be racing through the pages, breathless to find out what happens next. It's a sassy strut of a novel, full of twists and high-adrenaline moments, but ultimately it's got heart too. The characters are relatable, memorable and engaging, and you'll be rooting for your favourites to end up walking tall
A warm, witty and uplifting novel and it's a joy to spend time with Jojo Moyes' flawed, likeable characters. Another winner from a fabulous author

Strap in this is a long review!

One part of my life is amazing right now, the other is a F**king mess! Many years ago when, now the Ex was on tour with the RAF I found 'Me Before You' I was obsessed. The film and read the book 100 million times. it got me through an exceptional low and lonely time in my life.

Then after listening and studying the last 10years of the magic that is 'The Law Of Attraction' I wanted a break. I found whilst in a traffic jam this amazing book via audible. Someone Else's Shoes. it has been so uplifting, relatable and you feel yourself in everyone of the women characters within the story. A subtle hint of the new movement of womanising men and feminism as we see it in this current time.

The stories and structure brought together including the male characters blend together with absolute love and grace. Through another rough patch as I navigate this journey of my human experience, I cannot thank enough for the courage of people like JO JO Moyes to step up and live through her gifts. Thank you once again for mending my heart ache and confusion Jo, I love you and your truly an amazing writer!! Thank You, Thank you, Thank you xxxx
