When forced to choose between safety with the dragon organization Talon and being hunted forever as an outcast, Ember Hill chose to stand with Riley and his band of rogue dragons rather than become an assassin for Talon. She's lost any contact with her twin brother, Dante, a Talon devotee, as well as Garret, the former-enemy soldier who challenged her beliefs about her human side. As Ember and Riley hide and regroup to fight another day, Garret journeys alone to the United Kingdom, birthplace of the ancient and secret Order of St. George, to spy on his former brothers and uncover deadly and shocking secrets that will shake the foundations of dragons and dragon-slayers alike, placing them all in imminent danger as Talon's new order rises.

Listening to Soldier, the thrilling conclusion to The Talon Saga by Julie Kagawa, narrated by Caitlin Davies, MacLeod Andrews, Chris Patton, and Tristan Morris, is an absolutely satisfying, high-octane finale that delivers everything fans could hope for — and then some.

The pacing is relentless and perfectly tuned to the story’s escalating stakes. From the opening chapter, the tension is immediate, and Kagawa expertly balances high-stakes action, strategic battles, and intimate character moments. The narrative flows seamlessly between suspense, emotional depth, and dramatic reveals, keeping listeners completely engaged from start to finish.

The full cast of narrators continues to shine brilliantly. Caitlin Davies conveys Ember’s courage, vulnerability, and growth with subtle nuance, while MacLeod Andrews and Chris Patton bring power, humour, and clarity to the male perspectives. Tristan Morris adds fresh energy and ensures new viewpoints feel vivid and distinct. Their combined performances create an immersive, cinematic experience, making every shift in perspective feel natural and impactful.

Action scenes feel urgent and visually cinematic, while emotional beats resonate with genuine depth. The narrators’ control over pacing and tone makes the climactic moments even more exhilarating, and quieter, reflective passages land with real weight. The audiobook perfectly mirrors the intensity and grandeur of the story, making it easy to get lost in the world of dragons, loyalty, and sacrifice.

With masterful pacing, stellar narration, and a story that soars to its thrilling conclusion, Soldier is a must-listen finale that leaves every chapter echoing long after the headphones are off.

An epic, immersive, and utterly satisfying conclusion to The Talon Saga.

The Final Flight - Epic Dragons, Heart-Pounding!

I have loved listening to these books, the plot started off solid but thoughout the books became pretty predictable and with many holes.

As soon as the whole Riley/Garett situation started, I was certain Garett would die. Despite the fact Garett was my favourite character, the predictability of it meant I felt nothing when he was killed off. I could have literally told you how the showdown would go before I read it, very unoriginal.

But as a whole the series are pretty good. Just predictable.

Too predictable
