Summary

Nominated Best Fantasy Romance by Gravetell Reader's Choice Awards.

I'll never forget the first time I saw them, warriors moving like shadows from the trees. Their eyes seemed to glow with a fierce golden light, moving more like beasts than men. I trembled, every hair on my flesh prickled in the age old response of the hunted. They were predators and I was prey.

They entered the clearing and brought with them the smell of blood. Clad in furs and leather, bristling with weapons, they were warriors the likes of which I'd never seen. Huge, hulking forms, dark shapes pricked with those glowing pairs of eyes.

I could not face them properly, for I was bound to a tree, in the middle of a wilderness, helpless as I waited to be sold to the Berserkers.

When Brenna's father sells her to a band of passing warriors, her only thought is to survive. She doesn't expect to be claimed by the two fearsome warriors who lead the Berserker clan. Kept in captivity, she is coddled and cared for, treated more like a savior than a slave. Can captivity lead to love? And when she discovers the truth behind the myth of the fearsome warriors, can she accept her place as the Berserkers' true mate?

Sold to the Berserkers.

Loved listening to the audiobook the story was well written and the characters are intriguing. Brenna went to the markets with her stepfather only to find out she was tricked and he sold her to two strong Berserker warriors. This book had some really hot and steamy scenes. The narrator was clearly spoken and easy to understand.

Sexy sexy sexy!

From the word go, Lee Savino has provided a sensual, sexy and sweet story that leaves you wanting more. Luckily this is only the start of the series. With a little spanking and some sensual play, this menage is surprisingly emotional and even a little sweet (which is rather surprising considering the story includes not one but two berserkers). Brenna has lost the ability to speak but her thoughts are intense, which, in turn, adds an intense element to her experiences. It certainly leaves the readers wishing they had two attentive, dominant berserker lovers too!

Robert Ross's narration is pretty well matched to the story. His voice adds a calm, deep quality to the storytelling that both fits the warriors' behaviour towards Brenna and is incongruous with the perceived wild nature of the berserkers.

Overall the story is enjoyable especially if you like your men large, just a little bit wild and not above meting out a spanking!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Dark and Steamy romance

I am usually not a fan of this type of romance story line. Even though I enjoy some paranormal romance , I have not connected with warewolf books in the past. Yet, the description summary and the sample of the narrator's voice, made me want to try this book. To my surprise, I loved it. This author creates a beautiful love story using some dark elements. There is cliff hanger. Sold and Mated are one complete story. the remaining 3 books are more stand alone, but really need to be read in order. please note, there is some dark and rough sexual elements that might not appeal to everyone.

Terrible narration

This narrator put me to sleep. Monotone, no inflection, a droning voice. He needs some emotion! Some change in tone and style to separate the characters! I was really excited to see this series on Audible but after listening to less than 3 chapters I returned it. I’m very disappointed. This is a great series and a great author.

Refunded

There are several issues... Narrator is a male but the book is written in female POV. Narrator is not that good, monotone and lack luster. Even with bad narration I can get into a book if it has content that catches my attention. You will not find that here. I was thinking of what clothes needed to be washed and my grocery list.

The first book of a series and wow!

Audible is new to me and wow. WOW. Robert Ross is 100% the perfect voice for this series, I LOVED how he read the book. This is a fabulous short menage story that makes you excited about the rest of the series, I can't wait to hear Robert Ross read Lee's next book!

No story line.

I'm all for a hot steamy book, but there needs to be an actual story line not just sex. The only real plot was that she was sold.... ok then sex... I'm sorry but that is just not for me.

Hm...Interesting

So...this was a little confusing to me emotionally, but I kept getting drawn back in. I've listened to them all now and I'm going to review this one. At first, the narrator irked me; he was a little slow, but it ended up working out with the content. After awhile, his voice created a good setting with the medieval (I think that's when it takes place) background and warriors' dialogues. The gals...? Well, Brenna's mute, so it's her internal thoughts which works out. I've heard worse male narrators so he didn't do bad. After getting over the narrator and just listening to the story, it was easy to imagine the place, time and surroundings. Savino creates this aura of understanding to the domineering male characters with introducing this Berserker/ wolf-shifter culture (Berserkers, aka "the beast", need submission from their mates which is why spay wives are ideal since they need dominance, i.e. pain/ pleasure, to fuel their magic...). It doesn't sound like they're misogynistic (one or two of the background characters clearly are), but the submission/ dominance relationship is necessary for everyone's survival. They're not human and don't function in a typical human setting; the women aren't really human either...and it's definitely not set in modern times. Meh, I liked it. It's a very creative MMF story and, as a whole, the books are well done. The female leads aren't whiny and, although they're young (18 & 19, which is old for the medieval marriage market), they have a spine and aren't "broken" into victims with the BDSM which I appreciate. I'm going to be looking out for more of Savino's work.

Almost not enough to even review

First of all, I agree with all reviews that criticize the narration. This narration was not enjoyable and not captivating. As for the story, the premise actually has a lot of potential to grow into something, but it doesn't. Only 2 and a half hours long, the storyline and relationships never really go deep even though the author attempts to manufacture depth without backup so it doesn't resonate with readers. And then it's over.
