After a messy divorce, attractive young mother Sonia is struggling to provide for herself and keep custody of her son.

With her back to the wall, she resorts to smuggling cocaine into Iceland and finds herself caught up in a ruthless criminal world. As she desperately looks for a way out of trouble, she must pit her wits against her nemesis, Bragi, a customs officer whose years of experience frustrate her new and ever more daring strategies.

Things become even more complicated when Sonia embarks on a relationship with a woman, Agla. Once a high-level bank executive, Agla is currently being prosecuted in the aftermath of the Icelandic financial crash.

Set in a Reykjavík still covered in the dust of the Eyjafjallajökull volcanic eruption, and with a dark, fast-paced and chilling plot and intriguing characters, Snare is an outstandingly original and sexy Nordic crime thriller from one of the most exciting new names in crime fiction.

Thought I give it a go not particularly genre I would select. How surprised I was at what a great listening this turned out to be! Great storyline & ending. The narrator’s voice and tone kept me interested throughout the book. Was definitely worth a read and would highly recommend

Enjoyed it more than expected!

I downloaded this on a whim wasn’t sure I’d enjoy it but absolutely loved it.
It’s narrated brilliantly considering there are so many diverse characters.
I also felt I’d learnt a lot about Iceland and there banking crisis

Gripping and enlightening

I wanted to read this book as I have spent some time in Iceland. The story itself sort-of works but it doesn't grab you in a way that you could identify with any of the characters or with what is actually going on. At least not from my own life experience. I was aware of the financial crash in Iceland but tying that with a drug smuggling operation was a bit of a stretch. In fact the dramas going on in the various characters' lives did not contribute to the story. And the scene with the tiger (small spoiler here)? what can I say? The whole thing seemed to lack the presence of any law inforcement... Story needs a good editor with a red pen.

An OK read. Just holds together

So many unexpected twists. Lovely to read a book set in Iceland and learn a little more about the country and traditions.

Gripped throughout and already downloading the next book in the trio.

The narrator had a smooth voice that was complimented this calm easy 'thriller' I wasn't a fan of the ending and could have happily listened to more, but overall exactly what I wanted to listen to.

Gripping easy listen
