Summary

Jane leads an ordinary life that seems poles apart from Champagne D'Vyne; a celebrity socialite who leads a fairy-tale life with an obsession for men, money, and fame. Jane's life is filled by work stress, love stress, and a spare tire that refuses to go away.

But their drastically contrasting lives are about to become bizarrely intertwined, and Jane is soon to realize that Champagne will let nothing come between her and what she wants. Especially not Jane...

LUGUBRIOUS.Simply awful narrator and lovely story!

I adore Wendy Holden stories, they are so funny and the names she uses are so amusing and inventive. This time it is the narrator that pulls this story down to zero with bad pronouncing of words and she is so sad and dismal in her reading. Do Audible ever listen to the narrators before they take them on? I think not or they would never chose such a lugubrious reader, difficult to follow "the plot", so sorry Jenny I will not be buying any other books with you as the reader.

IIt's a struggle with this narrator...

...but I'm battling on because I love Wendy Holden's books. There is the usual liberal sprinkling of puns and I think and hope the storyline will conclude as satisfactorily as always, but, oh Lord, it's hard to be sure with this reading. So many words mispronounced that it's almost turning into a game to count them and the overall tone is as turgid as other reviewers have said. Anyway, onward and upwards....

Enjoyable story awful narration

Apologised to Jenny sterlin but the performance was lacking any character, the pronoun is toon hand me calling out corrections and the tone of voice seemed too ‘old’ for the character who is supposedly in her 20’s

Frothy, daft, funny - killed by poor narration

Wendy Holden writes frothy, funny chick lit with ludicrous names and dreadful puns - great to relax with. War and Peace they aren't, but they are genuinely very funny. This is one of the early ones and doesn't really measure up to The Wives of Bath, Beautiful People or Filthy Rich, but it's still worth reading.

Pity nobody told the narrator that. Her brief seemed to have been to drone on and on in a turgid miserable monologue and make sure she kills every single laugh. Ghastly. Thank goodness she hasn't been let loose on any of the others.
