Summary

An Amazon Charts best seller.

Emma's darkest secrets are buried in the past. But the truth can't stay hidden for long.

Emma is a loving wife, a devoted mother...and an involuntary killer. For years she's been hiding the dead body of the teacher who seduced her as a teen.

It's a secret that might have stayed buried if only her life had been less perfect. A promotion for Emma's husband, Alex, means they can finally move to a bigger home with their young son. But with a buyer lined up for their old house, Emma can't leave without destroying every last trace of her final revenge....

Returning to the shallow grave in the garden, she finds it empty. The body is gone.

Panicked, Emma confesses to her husband. But this is only the beginning. Soon, Alex will discover things about her he'll wish he'd learned sooner. And others he'll long to forget.

Absolutely Brilliant!

I read this on Kindle about 18 months ago so when it came out in audio I couldn't wait to relive the experience. This book is a rollercoaster of emotional turmoil, dark secrets, intense psychological suspense and is utterly gripping throughout. Listening this on audio, I experienced a whole spectrum of emotions from extreme sadness for Emma (the main character) to intense loathing for the despicable and manipulative Luke. Told in 1st person through the voices of three different characters added an extra exciting element and both the voices and the narration were superb.

I will definitely be listening to more audio books by this author.

Intriguing.

I enjoyed.this book, the characters were well depicted, Introducing each chapter with the name and year of the character is a great way of telling the tale from each side of the story.
intriguing, gripping yet easy to listen to, also the narrators were great giving a real feel for the characters.

Dreadful female narrator

This is a good story but the female narrator just spoils the whole experience by speaking with a breathy voice. Really really irritating but if you try to switch off from it and concentrate on the story, it’s pretty good.

Nail biting stuff

This standalone thriller by Caroline Mitchell is fast paced and kept my attention throughout. I found myself listening until 3am! The plot was complex enough to keep me interested and the characters are well drawn. I love thrillers set in remote locations. This one is set on Mersea Island off the coast of Essex, which is cut off by the tides.

Well narrated by Elizabeth Knowelden and Steve West.

A bit slow..

Sadly the story was too slow for me and the male narrators impressions of his wife and son, very annoying! Quite off-putting! I think the story could have been much more gripping, but sadly lost its way mid way through the book.
