Summary

Vor Jahren hat ein dunkles Geheimnis Commissaria Giulia Ferrari gezwungen, ihr Heimatdorf Santa Croce in der Toskana zu verlassen. Doch als mitten auf der Ponte Vecchio in Florenz ein Mord geschieht und anschließend die Leiche verschwindet, wird die Sonderermittlerin des Innenministers auf den Fall angesetzt. Die ersten Hinweise führen die Polizistin in die Gilde der Goldschmiede auf der historischen Brücke - war Geldgier das Motiv? Giulia spürt, dass sie bei den Ermittlungen allein nicht weiterkommt.

Unterstützung erhält sie ausgerechnet von einem alten Bekannten: Luigi Battista, früher Leiter der Mordkommission - mittlerweile aber Gastwirt in Santa Croce. Unter den aufmerksamen Augen des Dorfes sucht das ungleiche Paar, samt Hund Tulipan, einen Mörder. Und Giulia muss sich den dunklen Geistern der Vergangenheit stellen.
