Summary

Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) is in Hollywood! It's as if all her life has been leading to this moment. She's hanging out with the stars…or at least she will be, when she finally gets to meet movie superstar Sage Seymour, whom husband Luke is now managing.

There's so much to see and do! And getting Minnie through the hurdles for her A-list Hollywood pre-school will require some…er…help.

Becky sets her heart on a new career - she's going to be a celebrity stylist. Red carpet, here she comes! But Becky soon finds it's tough in Tinseltown.

Luckily her best friend, Suze, comes over to keep her company, and together they embark on the Hollywood insider trail. But somehow...things aren't quite working out as they’d hoped.

Then Becky's big chance comes, and it's an opportunity that money can't buy. But will it cost her too much?

Dreadful

Would you try another book written by Sophie Kinsella or narrated by Clare Corbett?

Nope - The attempt to drag this out into a sequel when she had already prolonged the story line, makes Sophie Kinsella as shallow as she has made the characters in the book

What was most disappointing about Sophie Kinsella’s story?

The lack of effort/ending

What didn’t you like about Clare Corbett’s performance?

Perfect

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Shopaholic to the Stars?

I probably would have finished writing the book.....

Any additional comments?

Waste of a credit. Utterly disappointing and greedy of the writer. Some parts of this dragged on when they could infact have been cut to make space for completing the storyline.

Pitiful

Truly grating storyline. The most stupid abrupt ending as if the author suddenly decided she couldn't be bothered to write any more.

Disappointed

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It passed the time of day and in parts was ok

What was most disappointing about Sophie Kinsella’s story?

The ending. I listened to it twice thinking I may have fallen asleep and skipped a chapter. I hadn't ! The ending was really bad. The middle bit was ok, but the characters all seemed to have had a personality transplant. I did really like the Shopaholic series, but this was most definitely the worst one.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

1) a much better ending - there was quite a lot of build up to it, but then it was as though the book had been concluded without the last 2 chapters being completed

2) keeping the character personalities the same

Was Shopaholic to the Stars worth the listening time?

It wasn't offensive, it passed some time. I'd listen to the others in the series again, I wouldn't listen to this one again.

Any additional comments?

Overall quite disappointed. I'd bought this book as soon as it came out. I'm presuming that the author has left the ending open ended for a sequel - bearing in mind it takes a good couple of years for this, I'll have completely lost all interest - the story in this respect is weak and probably not something I'd be that interested in reading / listening to.

Terrible

What disappointed you about Shopaholic to the Stars?

As a fan of previous books I was looking forward to this. However Becky is so vile and selfish that it was difficult to stay with her as a character you want to root for. I honestly thought that the book must have been split into 2 downloads and I had reached the end of the first downoad when the book ended.

Would you ever listen to anything by Sophie Kinsella again?

No. I can't be bothered to find out what her father is up to even if she writes a sequel.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

The perfromance was okay

disappointing !

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Im not sure what Sophie Kinsella was thinking, its didn't capture Becky's character at all she's been turned into a selfish, self centred person who seems to have lost all respect for her child, friends and family and despite not earning any money herself is bleeding her long suffering husband dry. The book ended dreadfully with no story lines tied up at all, had to double check i hadn't skipped a few chapter when the audio book suddenly ended!.

Any additional comments?

Although The narrator was fine, it wasn't the original narrator im used to listening to with all the previous books, therefore all the characters didnt sound right to me as their voices where different which was disappointing.

Loved this book

Like all books Sophie writes there light hearted, laugh out loud but still at times touching and emotional. If I want a light hearted read she is my go to author. She never fails to put a smile on my face and her characters are so easy to get immersed in. Love love loved it!!

Why no ending?

Disappointed with this one as the ending is so abrupt!! Not keen on narrator either, wish they had kept the narrator from mini shopaholic!
