Summary

When French gangster Tuco Martinez threatens Carlyle and his family, the inspector has to call on the resources and skills of Dominic Silver to try and see him off. But Dom won't do all the dirty work and so Carlyle has to go into hiding.

Cut off from his home turf, both literally and metaphorically, Carlyle struggles to cope with the situation while meanwhile, back in London, the charismatic major, Christian Holroyd, is finally spiraling completely out of control.

Thank God for Bluetooth ...

The usual excellent mix of talented crime writing and humour. Find myself drinking more coffee and using the F-word as John Carlyle's persona infiltrates my alter ego. Have listened to all the books in series so far, and have not been disappointed. Thank God for Bluetooth in cars. There were a couple of recording glitches - repeated phrases, hence only 4 stars for performance - in this audio book, but apart from that, Joe Jameson does a superb job, conveying all the nuances of character that I don't think I would necessarily pick up from just reading the book.
