Summary

There is a plot to kidnap Queen Victoria and only Sherlock Holmes can stop it...or can he?

Investigating a crime seemingly unconnected to the Royal Family, Holmes & Watson uncover a conspiracy to kidnap Queen Victoria and destabilise the British Empire.

With a ticking clock to her next public engagement, Holmes and Watson must discover who is behind the plot and locate her majesty, while Mycroft tries to keep the monarch’s disappearance a secret from the British people.

At first, Holmes believes Moriarty is responsible for the abduction, but when the Napoleon of Crime is proved innocent, Holmes must work with his arch-nemesis to rescue the Queen.

Poor performance killed this dead for me

I like the idea of the plot, but I'm afraid the performance was really poor, with the Dr Watson character particularly so wooden he made it sound like a comedy skit! I've no idea how the plot would have turned out... 10 minutes in, I couldn't persevere any longer. I am requesting a refund on this one I'm afraid.

More Turkey Watson?

I'm a huge fan of Kobna Holdbrook-Smith but even he can't salvage this turkey!!! Avoid.

Terrible acting

I really wanted to like this but the voices and acting made it impossible to listen to.

Too many voices sound the same!! Too confusing.

Usually love Holmes stories and usually Audible originals are a good bet, but with this one there are far too many voices that sound the same and it’s far too difficult to follow who is saying what. Almost as if it’s been directed by someone used to TV not audible. Even KH-S couldn’t save this for me, and I think he’s one of the best readers for audible books.

Sadly very weak

I nearly gave up early on but as a fan of Holmes of nearly 60 years I listened on.
It’s a weak plot with modern morals mixed in which Holmes wouldn’t have recognised. This is a commercial product trading on a name it’s not worthy of. If you are a fan of the original books and stories this is not for you

Disappointing

I love this genre generally but I found this to be a bit of a damp squib...

Brilliant, Gripping, Atmospheric

What a brilliant piece of work. Had me engrossed from the start. Wish it was longer than only 8 hrs. Will be looking for more of these to spend my credits on.

SADLY MISCAST

I listen to Audible products every single day. In addition, I am both a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes & of Audible original dramas - there have been some that are absolutely superb.. But, oh dear - not this. The key essence of any audio production is the casting & this is woefully adrift. I have no idea behind the thinking, but Dr Watson is acted so woodenly, and so out of character, that it has a very detrimental effect on the overall production. Mrs. Hudson is written as an absolute cliche. Another serious issue is that too many of the characters sound exactly the same, so that the listener is left thinking 'who is this speaking'? Plus, it needs editing. Too many scenes are too long, too played-out and it drags the overall pace down to a crawl. I was so looking forward to this production, too, which makes it all the more disappointing. This could have been really great.
