Summary

Radio’s greatest sleuths, bar none - here are Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson!

Deep voiced Basil Rathbone (with his deerstalker cap and chiseled silhouette) gives his definitive portrayal of Holmes, while Nigel Bruce (Hollywood’s favorite jolly old Englishman) lends support as the delightfully amazed Watson.

Venture into the fog and mist of Victorian London for 16 mind-challenging thrillers. Solve cases of intrigue and blackmail, of missing gems and missing persons, of maharajas and murder - all inspired by incidents in the original stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

Episodes Include: The Book of Tobit 03-26-45; The Amateur Mendicant Society 04-02-45; The Viennese Strangler 04-09-45; The Notorious Canary Trainer 04-23-45; The Unfortunate Tobacconist 04-30-45; The Purloined Ruby 05-07-45; In Flanders Field 05-14-45; The Paradol Chamber 05-21-45; Colonel Warburton’s Madness 09-10-45; The Case of the Out of Date Murder 09-17-45; The Eyes of Mr. Leyton 09-24-45; The Problem of Thor Bridge 10-01-45; The Case of the Vanishing Elephant 10-08-45; The Adventure of the Double Zero 11-19-45; Murder in the Casbah 12-03-45; A Scandal in Bohemia 12-10-45.

The Best Holmes and Watson who ever lived.

Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce do a great job on this audiobook. I loved their movies when I was young and now I enjoy their new adventures on this audiobook as I’m now Older.

Good example of wartime radio

Always nice to listen to, especially with a glass of petri wine. The ads were slightly annoying but also hilighted some of the wartime experience.

Basil is absolutely the best. While I would prefer a more accurate representation of Watson there stories are fantastic.
