Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of She Lies in Wait by Gytha Lodge, read by John Hopkins, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Joe Coen and Gytha Lodge.

Six friends. One killer. Whom do you trust?

On a hot July night in 1983, six school friends go camping in the forest. Bright and brilliant, they are destined for great things, and young Aurora Jackson is dazzled to be allowed to tag along.

Thirty years later, a body is discovered. DCI Sheens is called to the scene, but he already knows what's waiting for him: Aurora Jackson, found at long last.

But that's not all. The friends have all maintained their innocence, but the body is found in a hideaway only the six of them knew about.

It seems the killer has always lurked very close to home....

Full of suspense

I won't go into the summary as to not give away anything but I am sad not to be spending time with Jonah and Julliet and will miss them. This story is not always fast paced but never failed to hold my interest. Wonderful characters and well wrtitten. The ending had me holding my breath, was full of suspense and not rushed like some books. I thoroughly enjoyed this and hope there is more in this series.

Worth a listen

It is worth a listen and quite a good story. Felt towards the end the story was left with a few loose ends.

Highly enjoyable "unforgotten" style murder myster

Great story, clear and well read performances. I like that different voices read the chapters told from different character perspectives. Found myself gripped as the story wound to its climax, unable to stop listening!

A masterclass in detection and narration

This is a fabulous first book and Jonah Sheens goes straight up there as one of the most original fictional detectives. The story is so gripping and unlike many books like this the solution was absolutely satisfying. A word on the narration – perfect. I don’t normally enjoy books with multiple narrators but this felt so natural. A brilliant five star audiobook.

Excellent

I can’t wait for the next book. The story gripped me and it was difficult to work out who the killer was.

Excellent

This was an excellent police procedural with great characters among the detectives and their interactions with the suspects. It’s a long time since I have had such a satisfactory listen. The narration was also well done.

Disappointing !

I found this book very slow and boring. Nothing about it to keep me on the edge of my seat.
