Summary

She’s everything he dreamed of.

Isn’t she?

Ben can’t believe his luck when the beautiful Bella walks into his life, just when he needs her most.

Still bruised and vulnerable since breaking up with long-term girlfriend Charlotte, he falls head over heels in love.

But Bella isn’t quite the ideal partner that Ben believes her to be. She quickly decides that everything is better when it is just the two of them - making it harder for friends and family to stay in touch. And then a sudden death triggers a chain of events that throws Ben headlong into a nightmare....

Secrets, lies, vengeance and betrayal are at the heart of this story about a family that is destroyed when their son brings home the perfect girl....

Twee family drama

Gosh, where to start? Spoiled, wet lettuce Mummy's boy meets vile, vain girl. There follows far too much unrealistic dialogue never heard spoken by human beings except in romantic comedies, a smattering of really quite uninteresting events and an incredible talking genius baby. It's not a thriller, more of a series of boring events. Not for me. Narrators good however.

The sample gives it away

Has no one mentioned that the sample you let your listeners hear actually give the story away? Why would you do that?

Repetitive and redundant and repetitive

I think this book wanted to be "Between you and me" which was a very well written story, albeit frustrating to listen to due to the domestic violence etc, but also actually had a great twist. This story did not live up to that. I do appreciate that the characters were all likeable in their own way. I found myself caring for each of them and lowkey rooting for even the psycho villain at times. So the author had some great character development but the story really didn't go anywhere. Everything was spelled out for us and there were no twists or surprises. Plus, anytime there was new information it was repeated over and over again between the different characters. So it was boring and flat. I fell asleep on the book so many times but was determined to finish it. I liked the performances but neither voice actor was able to do different characters and so it got a bit confusing to figure out who was speaking at times. I kind of want someone to do a better version of this story because the premise is so good but the delivery was just not there.

so good!

Way better than I was expecting! A totally different spin on domestic noir drama. The character development was great, the flow of the story worked smooth all the way through. Narrator's were great, always knew what character was talking.
