Story
The sages of Tantra have known for centuries that when you follow the path of Shakti - the sacred feminine principle personified by the goddesses of yoga - these gifts can manifest spontaneously. Yet most of us, women as well as men, have yet to experience the full potential of our inner feminine energies. When you know these powers for what they are, they heighten your capacity to open spiritually, love more deeply and fearlessly, create with greater mastery, and move through the world with skill and delight.

Tantra Illuminated takes the listener on a fascinating journey to the very heart of original Tantra: its key teachings, foundational lineages, and transformative practices. Since the West's discovery of Tantra 100 years ago, there has been considerable fascination, speculation, and more than a little misinformation about this spiritual movement. Now, for the first time in the English language, Tantra Illuminated presents an accessible introduction to this sacred tradition that began 1,500 years ago in the far north of India.

One thousand years ago in the valley of Kashmir, a great Tantric master named Ksemaraja wrote his masterpiece: the Pratyabhijna-hrdaya, which means "The Essence of the Recognition Philosophy" - recognition, that is, of oneself as a direct expression of the universal divine Consciousness. Recognition also that this Consciousness is, in truth, all that exists, and that its five fundamental powers of awareness, enjoyment, willing, knowing, and acting are the sacred endowments of every sentient being.

Joseph Campbell brought mythology to a mass audience. His bestselling books, including The Power of Myth and The Hero with a Thousand Faces, are the rare blockbusters that are also scholarly classics. While Campbell’s work reached wide and deep, he never wrote a book on goddesses in world mythology. He did, however, have much to say on the subject. Between 1972 and 1986 he gave over twenty lectures and workshops on goddesses, exploring the figures, functions, symbols, and themes of the feminine divine, following them through their transformations across cultures and epochs. Editor Safron Rossi collects these lectures for the first time.

Summary
Creation and Transformation through the Divine Feminine
Everything new that comes into our lives - every change that unfolds - emerges out of Shakti, the universal force of creation and transformation. Shakti Meditations provides an immediate way to experience the many gifts of this divine feminine power. Taught by expert meditation teacher Sally Kempton, these guided inner practices use India’s goddesses of yoga as gateways for discovering and inviting the many dimensions of Shakti.
Like rivers flowing through us, each deity carries its own unique energies to help empower and guide us in our spiritual, relationship, career, and creative paths. As we meditate upon them, their virtues and energies begin to arise in such forms as:
- Durga for strength, protection, and action
- Lakshmi for abundance and self-compassion
- Kali to ignite our courage and clear inner obstacles
- Saraswati to spark creative inspiration and clarify communication
- Maha Devi to draw us closer into spacious and liberated consciousness
For yoga practitioners, healers, meditators, and anyone who needs to call on the power of the feminine, Shakti Meditations gives listeners a powerful method to explore this limitless source of light and energy within us.

Wonderful
This book is divine, the stories and descriptions of the goddesses are enchanting and the meditations evoke a sense of the goddesses within you. The only negative I have for this audiobook is that there are some strange background noises, like bodily noises, that really distracted me during the meditations and once I heard them I couldn't "unhear" them.

Powerful message, unfortunately bad sound
I love the work of the author, she must be a really inteligent and lovely lady. When she speaks I visualize my mom or granny talking to me, it is soothing and warm. The content is also really rich and well done, love the meditations and I think any woman should focus on getting connected with female deities as it really empowers us in otherwise quite patriarchic religious world (I personally have nothing against that but that is a fact). Some of the things from the hindu scriptures I heard differently from my Indian friends when I was in India but noone can be sure how it was, but I did not mind as the point of this book focuses on someting else. However, I have had a big issue with the bad quality of the recording. You can hear way too much, every tongue movement, especially dryness of the mouth after all the speaking which is understandable but unfortunately that it something that I cannot stand. My whole back gets goosebumbs hearing those and I cannot focus properly. It is a big pitty that the author havent invested in mastering the sound or better mic because otherwise the book overall is really good and Id recommend it.
