Great

I cannot express strongly enough that having the short stories relate to one another makes for a much a better listen than a serious of disjointed and disconnected tales

Some essential HH reading

The Crimsom Fist is the only depiction of the Battle of Phall, and The Prince of Crows is the closest you'll get to a depiction of the Thramas Crusade. And they are both good, good enough alone to give this a listen. And then you get a few short stories on top of that.

John Banks is awful as a narrator.

Which is a shame, his uninspired, droning voice ruins some great stories. Seeing his name will always make me refrain from purchasing an audio book from now on.

No bad short stories

All stories in this collection are good, bordering on great. But the “Prince of Crows” and the imperial fist one is a cut above the rest. Prince of crows is actually amazing, would really recommend

Imperial Fists, Night Lords and a smidge of the Mechanicum

Good collection of short stories that flesh out the world, not essential but would recommend!

Best short stories book yet imo

Narration was brilliant as you would expect now from those involved, all the stories were/are relevant and scattered throughout with decent action.
Sevitar’s character is written so well, I shouldn’t have liked him but he has an affability that echo’s any of the late, great Alan Rickman’s baddies that he portrayed, he drew more than couple of belly laughs from me for sure.

Quality

Some very well written stories and superbly performed narration. Really enjoying all of the ever expanding lore of the Heresy

john banks again :(

This book follows the night lords well and gives a good insight into them, sadly john banks as a narrator leaves much to be desired, although he is getting better as the last book he narrated was terrible

the first few stories are a waste of time

so the first few stories were dull and a waste of time.
after that there was a fantastic mechanicus short story and an epic night lords story.
I really wish this had been a full length 12 hour night lords story on its own!

A great set of short stories....

....another cracking Hersey short story collection. Well worth a read/listen. Covers a lot of ground and fleshes out some of the lesser known Legions. Highly recommended.
