Summary

Caleb and Joshua Roar to Life in this High-Impact Old Testament Saga

Two men were brave enough to tell the truth about what awaited the Hebrews in Canaan. This is their story. From the slave pits of Egypt to the efforts of an 85-year-old Caleb as he drives out the last of the giants, Shadow of the Mountain: Exodus is a vivid portrait of two of God's chosen champions and a meditation on masculine mentorship and the challenges and blessings of growing older.

For the sake of his new god and his loyalty to his friend, Joshua, Caleb will not spend his twilight years resting but taking the battle to the enemies of God's people until his dying breath. From his early days as a mercenary for Pharaoh in Egypt, watching the Hebrews suffer under the yoke of slavery, all the way through a desperate fight with giants in the dark forests of the hill country, this is a story filled with epic battles, gritty intensity, and supernatural events that made Graham's Lion of War series a hit. Shadow of the Mountain is sure to ignite a love for the Old Testament in popular culture.

Really makes you think

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I love this book. Makes you think of how difficult the struggle was. The struggle to trust God when you dont know His love well. The historic accuracy is questionable of Calebs attachment to Egypt, but the struggle to follow God is real. When life isnt going as you plan.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Caleb

What about Brian Hutchison and Richard Ferrone ’s performance did you like?

The Narration is great would love more books done this way.

An empowering listen...

I have found all of Graham's literature empowering...empowering as a person but more importantly empowering as a Christian. Though this book along with his other literature would be just as good for a secular audience. Graham presents a realistic vision of that time and one can tell he has researched in d his topic thoroughly.
...and when I say Graham is realistic I mean he thoroughly discusses the scene. Some folks feel he could have left the grislier parts out but I don't feel the story would have been as gritty or as realistic. Though Graham doesn't gloss battle over he also doesn't highlight the uglier parts as some authors do.
I gave the performance a 3 star because I just didn't feel the voices fit the characters nor did I really like how they used two voice talents in the way they did.
Side note: Not only are Graham's works wonderful reads but I find it easy to support his work because of what he does in the private sector in empowering Christians...especially Christian men. I think you will enjoy this book along with others while knowing you are also supporting good works. Enjoy!

Good idea, average quality

I liked the idea of the plot but the writing was average. One narrator, the one reading the older Caleb and Othniel was good. The narrator for the young Caleb wasn't as good. It was like he was trying to hard to sound tough. I finished the story but probably won't buy any more.

Awesome story / Difficult Narration

Really enjoyed this book. If you are familiar with Cliffs work this one does not disappoint. The narration however took a bit of time to get accustomed to.
