Summary

An orchestrated series of ritual killings has shocked the nation. Partnered by New York police officer Lily Rothenburg, Detective Lucas Davenport will need all the tricks he has learnt on the streets of Minneapolis as he searches through the shadows and mysteries of the American Indian community, trying to track down the obsessed minds behind the bloody vengeance killings - before the team of killers finally goes out of control.

Worth a second listen...and Maybe a third.

I love this series but I did find this book the most difficult to follow. I've listened to it a few times now though. I had faith and I've been rewarded.

Shadow Prey

Good story but John Sandford is much better with his later stuff. I didn't know that this was only his second. He has honed skills with later books to a much higher degree.

Hunter and Hunted

A high quality Lucas Davenport Thriller. The last third delivers the required action and thrills.

Decent story

Writing is excellent, Characters are great, dialogue is good and plot is dated however I enjoyed the audiobook, thanks to the narrator.

Steer clear if you dislike swearing

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

A reasonable story spoilt by the bad language no time is wasted listening too a book even when there are disappointments. Every book can open a portal to new thoughts and ideas be they good bad or indeferent

Would you recommend Shadow Prey to your friends? Why or why not?

I would be loath to recomend it because of the continual bad language

What aspect of Richard Ferrone’s performance might you have changed?

He read well but could be a little more precise

If this book were a film would you go see it?

No

Round and round but painfully slowly

The narrator gives a good performance. This book starts very promisingly but is completely let down by being dragged out the action and plot don't merit the length of this book. Indeed had it been radically edited could have been a crisp fast paced piece. And by the way I don't care about the swearing nor the sex but I do mind this poor interaction between the key people.

Too much pointless sub plotting and so contrived with Lily the national shooting champion ...yawn... very teenagery those bits.

Would I recommend hmmm ....NO
