Summary

The Shadow Council lurks everywhere...and high-ranking members have taken an interest in FBI special agent Megan Luchek. From the beautiful state parks of Hawaii to the chilly backwoods of Pennsylvania in winter, Megan knows how to find trouble all on her own.

Money makes it deadlier: Agent Luchek steps into high heels and deep danger when she gets assigned to investigate a bank.

Revenge makes it sweeter: Megan gets a late-night summons to the hospital to speak with a gunshot victim. She knows to expect almost anything, yet he still surprises her.

Christmas makes it chaos: Agent Luchek goes to Philadelphia for an anti-terrorism conference only to face off against real terrorists.

Treachery makes it tense: Megan gets an unlikely ally in the desperate fight to save Dan’s family from a madman. An agent’s job is never truly dull, but it always gets more exciting - and deadly - when the cases involve the Shadow Council.

Don't leave this book in the shadows

Wow!!! I loved this book, so glad I discovered it as I really enjoyed it. This is a box set of four books but as most of the stories continues where the last one finished it was like listening to one big excellent book, the books are sold separately and last about three hours each so this was a brilliant way of getting your hands on all of them at once and making it a much better story, otherwise I would probably be saying I wish they had been longer. I really liked the characters from the assassin to the FBI agents family, I liked them all. The stories were all different but connected and there wasn't a bad one in the bunch. A must read or listen. Money makes it deadlier. A husband wants to get rid of his wife but a divorce is to expensive so he turns to a fixer on the shadow council. Who comes up with the idea of staging a bank robbery then a week later disgraced she kills herself. Unfortunately for him two special agents are investigating banks undercover and happens to be at the bank at the time of the robbery. Revenge makes it sweet. With his plans to kill his wife up in smoke he turns to bribing in order to gain the affections of his daughter. The shadow council are not happy with his actions and call for an open day on fixers and Martin Cantrell himself. When one is partly taken out He summons FBI agent Megan to protect the girl but that is in the cross hairs of warring fractions inside the agency but it seems she already has here own guardian angel. Christmas makes it Chaos Christmas time is a horrible time to be away from a young family and the is exactly why Megan arranges for her partner family to join them when they get the assignment of talking at a seminar. It's a shame the terrorist didn't warn them not to come to town. Megan finds herself partnering up with an unlike ally to spread the good cheer and more importantly to stay alive but can she trust her new friend or will she find coal in her stocking this year? Treachery makes it tense The unlike pairing of an FBI agent and assassin is required once again when a common enemy swears revenge against the pair that saw an endld to his deadly plan last time round. This time he is going bolder by targeting loved ones and getting them to kill each other. Is this a move he will life to regret or will they turn to the dark side? I really liked the narrator. She did an excellent job of keeping the story fun and entertaining, I would listen to her again.

Very Good!

An entertaining and thrilling listen. It was refreshing to have so many strong, female leading characters in one series. I will definitely be reading more from this author. The narrator was very good. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted /review copy.

Loved this series. Each chapter had me wondering what other trouble agent Megan could get into. Loved the characters, their personalities and flaws. Also the narration was on top form. She did the accents very well and gives a good feel for each character

Totally love this exciting listen

This is a complete series in one audio, all 4 books each have a delightful plot that keeps you guessing, filled with adventurer, excitement, danger, I love the twists and turns taking you to different places, filled with humor that had me chuckling. I really enjoyed the characters and came to love a few. The author give you a compelling listen that keeps you wanting more. Things are not always as they seem, there are a few surprises, a shock or two and is highly entertaining. I loved special agent Megan Luchek, Dan and even one or two evil ones. Megan does get into a few messes which Dan runs to help. It was a delightful listen that I wish would not end. The narrator does an outstanding job, she puts emotions, action into the authors words. This is a wonderful team that know how to bring a book to life. I love her character voices both male and female were outstanding. There are no background noise, no repeating of words, no volume change, she puts true emotion into her voice making you believe the scene is really happening. I had no trouble knowing what each character was going through, I felt their pain, anger and happiness. This is the first time I have listen to this narrator and it won’t be the last. I could listen to her all day which I pretty much did and never get tired of her lovely voices.

4 Stories - Very Entertaining

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting a review and any opinions expressed herein are my own. This book contains four separate stories - although each one basically begins on the heels of the ending of the previous story. The first story establishes the Shadow Council and how FBI agent Megan Luchek and her partner stumble into them while investigating bank fraud. The remaining three stories continue to ratchet up the tension as Megan becomes like a dog with bone while continuing to look into the Shadow Council and keeping herself alive from an unrelenting assassin. There is a lot of plotting and puzzling to put together the pieces coupled with some great action. Very entertaining read. The narrator, Liz Brand, does a wonderful job - distinguishing the characters and moving the action along. Very enjoyable.

Really, really excellent

I have some pretty severe opinions. I prefer audiobooks to reading and I love to read. I adore great audio performances and when I look at a list of potential reads, I look to see who the narrator is first. I have a good list of favorite narrators and have found many authors I like because of the narrators. I found this pairing together. I got Shadow Council on a special promotion and was only a little into the first book when I realized this pairing of Julie C. Gilbert and Liz Brand was a total winner. I am now an absolute fan of both!! Julie C. Gilbert can really write. She has descriptive skills, plotting skills, grammar skills and more. I am a big fan now. Liz Brand is a exceptional narrator and handles the job of becoming the characters with a high degree of ability. Her character voices are distinct and separate. Her natural voice is pleasing and precise. I will be looking for other books she has done. I am sold on both and highly recommend Shadow Council to anyone who enjoys audiobooks. The overall feel of the production is a Catherine Coulter type of FBI series. It left me wanting more.

Everything about this story draws you in

You have an FBI agent who always seems to end up in trouble. And then you have an assassin who always seems to be there to get her out of trouble. This book if full of twists and turns, and a lot of action. Throw in a kidnapping, and you have the perfect story. Would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves a good action book

Good Story & Narration

Megan is a magnet for trouble rather in Hawaii or Pennsylvania she finds it. She is a professional, dealing with a madman, terrorist’s, and other types she handles them. Read other books by author and have enjoyed all she has written. The narration by Liz Brand added to the mystery and story. Given ARC audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Solid

A solid plot. Solid characters. A few twists. This book is a good listen and it’s entertaining. But, I didn’t mind turning off when needed, and I don’t think I’ll tears the others. It’s a conspiracy theory /secret org controls the world premise, and I just couldn’t get into that. I received this book for free.

I found this 4 books Series a Good Listen!

Though the main character is a magnet for trouble, she is also a dedicated professional. Her partner is a very likable Southern Texan with the expected drawl. This is a 1-4 book series that stories happens one after the other.

Good story and it has action throughout. Likeable characters, as well as a share of shady ones. You enjoyed it and the narrator who told the story did a really good job of keeping your interest. So when you get a chance pick up a copy and enjoy.
