The odd couple of detection - the brilliant but cranky Arthur Bryant and John May of London's Peculiar Crimes Unit - return in a tense, atmospheric new thriller that keeps you guessing right to the end. This time the detectives are up against a series of bizarre murders that defy human understanding - and a killer no human hand may be able to stop. A mysterious stranger in outlandish Edwardian garb defaces a painting in the National Gallery. Then a guest at the exclusive Savoy Hotel is fatally bitten by what appears to be a marshland snake. An outbreak of increasingly bizarre crimes has hit London - and, fittingly, come to the attention of the Peculiar Crimes Unit. I'd never read anything by this author before - but I will now. The plot was wonderfully weird and extremely well put together. I was still guessing with an hour to go. The reader really brought the different characters to life, consistently and enjoyable. I'd recommend this book and wish that the others in the series would be available on audible.

Thoroughly enjoyable!

What other book might you compare Seventy-Seven Clocks to, and why?

It's a bit like a Lara Croft mystery with a couple of old guy doing all the deering do!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When Bryant found the astrolabe

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the kidnapped child was hungry because all she had eaten was ice-cream.

Any additional comments?

I wish I had started this series at the beginning. I am going to have to go backwards now to the first 2 books. I can see that having the whole series is going to take a few credits. Yippee.

A new series to get hooked on!!!
